Housing Director

EF’s International Language School in Miami Beach, FL, seeks a passionate operations manager with a customer-service and sales orientation to join our team as Housing Director. The successful candidate for this position will report to the School Director and oversee all aspects of student welfare including housing, discipline, and administration for 500+ students. Excellent communication skills are needed to liaise with our sales offices worldwide and motivate a team of 4-10 employees, as well as the confidence to efficiently develop systems to manage a school.  Diplomacy, patience, flexibility and strong conflict resolution skills are essential when working with students from all over the world and of varying English abilities. 

The Housing Director will fulfill some duties of the School Director when she is not there. Experience in the educational sector is preferable, but a sound track record of excellent customer service and operations management is a must. The ILS team is committed to coaching and supporting a future leader in this challenging but rewarding position. 

Job Responsibilities: 

·         Arrange room assignments for a residential population of approximately 500 students

·         Oversee logistics and operations of various separate residences

·         Hire and manage a staff of 4-10 Resident Advisors

·         Enforce school rules and policies, manage and follow-up on student discipline issues

·         Communicate issues with international sales offices (concerning logistics and student discipline)

·         Be an influential leader and manager to a team: run meetings, develop agendas, drive improvement

Job Requirements: 

·         Successful candidates must have team leadership experience.

·         Experience in the hospitality industry a strong plus.

·         College Degree

·         2-3 years of operational and staff management experience

·         Excellent organization and communication skills

·         Strict attention to detail

·         An ability to think and react quickly to daily surprises

·         Ability to meet long and short-term goals, ability to prioritize 

·         Good analytical skills and spatial planning skills

·         A positive attitude, sense of humor, and empathy for others

·         Comfort with a fast paced environment

·         A strong willingness and desire to take charge during emergencies

·         International experience preferred

Position is full-time and will require some weekend work at certain times of year. A second language is not a requirement but is helpful.
