EDUCATION:  High School diploma or equivalent.  College a plus.  Ability to speak, read, write, and comprehend the English language at a level sufficient to communicate effectively staff.

TRAINING & EXPERIENCE:  5 years of golf experience with at least 18 months as a First Assistant.  Must be a member of the PGA of America.  Must have a valid Florida Driver’s License.

JOB KNOWLEDGE:  Superb overall working knowledge of golf course operations.

JOB SUMMARY:  Direct the daily operation of golf pro shop staff.

PHYSICAL ABILITIES:  Must be able to work outside in all weather conditions, be able to drive a motor vehicle, capable of lifting golf bags weighing up to 40 pounds and to the height of 4 feet and be able to play the game of golf.

DUTIES AND FUNCTIONS
  1. Must be able to work a flexible schedule, to include weekends, holidays and split shifts.
  2. Arrive to work on time, consistently.
  3. Upon entering the property, arrive in proper uniform, crisp, clean and in good repair.
  4. Hair must be clean and cut in a becoming style; management has final approval.
  5. Attend all required training, safety courses; attend office and departmental meetings.
  6. Report any safety hazards, follow up that hazard has been corrected, and assist with providing a safe work environment.
  7. Stay current with dues and membership matters with the PGA of America.
  8. Maintain rigid safety standards from all golf employees through training.
  9. Work with assistant Pros to prioritize work.
  10. Set up weekly schedules, checking on staff requirements and schedule accordingly.
  11. Have a complete knowledge of the golf swing.
  12. Keep current on new teaching techniques thus being able to provide top quality lessons to members and guests.
  13. Have a complete knowledge of golf equipment and the ability to make simple repairs.
  14. Supervise overall golf shop operation including check-ins, tee times, golf lessons, inventory ordering, and receiving.
  15. Have a fundamental knowledge of golf apparel and keep shop stocked of necessary items.
  16. Visit and play other golf courses and attend annual trade shows.
  17. Keep current with new ideas and trends.
  18. Execute the general responsibilities common to all Club management staff in minimizing the costs of unit operations and in safe guarding the property and reputation of the Club.
  19. Teach Assistant Professionals about budgets, which include labor, sales, and expenses.
  20. Actively work to greet members and guests by name, getting to know their personal preferences.
  21. Display pleasing personality to all members and guests.

Perform and follow up on any other duties as assigned by the Director of Golf.
