Summary

This position is part of the NPO. A successful candidate in this position is responsible for representing NPO management on assigned Safety Management Program(s) (SMP) for matters involving Worker Safety and Health Program (WSHP) (i.e., Industrial Safety, Industrial Hygiene, and Construction Safety), Chronic Beryllium Disease Prevention Program (CBDPP), Integrated Safety Management Program (ISMS) and will serve as the Enterprise program manager for these assigned SMP areas.



Duties

As a Program Manager (Industrial Hygienist/Worker Safety & Health Program Manager), you will:

  • Conducts walk-through inspections of the facilities and/or operations for the purpose of identifying hazards, incidents of non-compliance with standards and guidelines, and potential problem areas. Assures that activities are performed within approved safe operating envelopes and in compliance with applicable orders, laws, and regulations.
  • Monitors integrated and complex program performance involving unique equipment, illness/injury, facility designs, operations and processes, a variety of human factors, and dangerous operations and processes.
  • Ensures contractor management control systems and procedures adhere to NNSA/DOE and national nuclear, radiological and/or industrial hygiene and safety program requirements, policies and practices, and contractual obligations.
  • Assures that activities are performed within approved safe operating envelopes and in compliance with applicable orders, laws, and regulations.

  • Makes contractor and site management aware of issues and concerns and recommends potential solutions to regulatory, technical and/or programmatic issues and requirements.
  • Participates in meetings, conferences and special working groups with M&O contractor and other subject matter experts; Federal, state, and local regulators (e.g. EPA, NRC, etc.), and oversight entitles (e.g. Defense Nuclear Facilities Safety Board).
  • Observes, appraises and evaluates contractor performance through surveillance, field observations, and the evaluation of operational integration in production activities.
  • Serves as the primary interface between local NNSA/DOE management and the contractor, and maintains cognizance of all operational activities, both technical and administrative, in providing technical and policy guidance, direction and interpretation.
