About the Team

Joining Nutanix means becoming an integral part of the SEC Reporting and Technical Accounting team. This small but highly effective group of professionals operates in the US, working closely with key departments such as legal, investor relations, tax, treasury, and FP&A. Known for their expertise in analyzing technical topics and formulating an efficient SEC reporting process, the team is responsible for upholding the highest standards of public company compliance. Additionally, they are instrumental in shaping and maintaining accounting policies, researching intricate accounting matters, preparing memos on significant topics, and overseeing complex accounting functions such as leases, stock-based compensation, debt, and strategic investment accounting. By joining this team, you'll be part of a successful group that has significantly contributed to Nutanix's growth and success.

You will report to the Assistant Controller and will have the flexibility to work remotely. This remote work setup allows for a healthy work-life balance, eliminating the need for daily commutes and offering a comfortable work environment designed to enhance productivity and collaboration.

Your Role

  • Responsible for conducting accounting research and preparing or reviewing technical accounting memos regarding significant and/or complex transactions

  • Develop and maintain financial policies in response to operational changes, technical accounting and internal control requirements

  • Establish frequent touchpoints with key business counterparts to assess potential accounting implications such as implementation costs of cloud computing arrangements, litigation accruals, capitalized research and development activities, etc.

  • Lead goodwill and asset impairment review process

  • Prepare and coordinate distribution of presentations for executive management and the Audit Committee

  • Manage external vendors to support valuations and outsourced technical accounting projects

  • Review SEC filings (10-K, 10-Q, etc.) and key financial statement disclosures including EPS, cash flow statement and equity rollforward

  • Partner with internal and external auditors and manage audit requests to drive timely completion of quarterly reviews and annual audits

  • Participate in quarter-end close activities including stock-based compensation, leases, litigation analysis and debt accounting entries

  • Perform other ad hoc duties as necessary and assigned

What You Will Bring

  • 7+ years of accounting experience, with 4-5 years of public accounting experience, ideally in the technology industry

  • Strong technical accounting background with thorough knowledge of ASC 842, ASC 350, ASC 985, ASC 740 and ASC 450

  • Have the ability to clearly and concisely document and effectively communicate complex accounting and reporting issues to finance and non-finance personnel

  • Ability to manage multiple high-priority projects and effectively meet deadlines

  • Proactive and effective management skills

  • Experience with SOX, including design and execution of controls

  • Collaborative and team-oriented personality

  • Ability to work independently and be a self-starter

  • BA/BS Degree in Accounting and CPA preferred

The pay range for this position at commencement of employment is expected to be between USD $ 131,120 and USD $ 262,680 per year.

However, base pay offered may vary depending on multiple individualized factors, including market location, job-related knowledge, skills, and experience. The total compensation package for this position may also include other elements, including a sign-on bonus, restricted stock units, and discretionary awards in addition to a full range of medical, financial, and/or other benefits (including 401(k) eligibility and various paid time off benefits, such as vacation, sick time, and parental leave), dependent on the position offered. If hired, employee will be in an “at-will position” and the Company reserves the right to modify base salary (as well as any other discretionary payment or compensation program) at any time, including for reasons related to individual performance, Company or individual department/team performance, and market factors.
