Amentum is seeking a mid to senior level Network Administrator to provide support for several, geographically dispersed, medium-sized secure Department of Defense (DoD) networks. The network  administrator will be a part of a small, cohesive team, supporting networks utilizing Cisco firewalls, routers, and switches. This position will require minimal travel, primarily in and around the Springfield, VA area, in support of remote client locations. This role requires superb communication and organizational skills, as the individual will be directly interfacing with the client and must be able to manage and complete multiple tasks in a timely manner. Candidates must also have a basic familiarization of virtual infrastructures using solutions such as VMware and Hyper-V implementations and be familiar with current DoD cybersecurity policies and regulations governing information systems.

Responsibilities include but are not limited to:

  • Primary lead for network designs and configuration, identifying areas needing improvement and implementing recommended changes.
  • Design, install, configure, secure, and monitor routers, switches, firewalls and TACLANES throughout the network enterprise. Monitor network device logs, activity, and performance on all network devices.
  • Maintain network infrastructure and associated network devices, updating operating systems and managing their configurations accordingly.
  • Secure all network equipment in compliance with appropriate Defense Information Systems Agency's (DISA) Security Technical Implementation Guides (STIGs), Security Content Automation Protocol (SCAP/XCCDF), or similar standards, including the associated configurations and operating system updates, in order to meet DoD regulatory compliance.
  • Document and diagram the network and its associated devices, updating when changes occur. Create Plans of Action and Milestones (POAMs) for network upgrades when necessary.
  • Research, evaluate, install, configure, and troubleshoot all hardware, peripherals, and equipment necessary to meet integrated systems objectives.
  • Stay up to date with current and future technologies, identifying ways to leverage technological solutions against current problem sets.
  • Coordinate efforts under the general supervision of the IT Manager; perform additional tasks as deemed necessary by IT Manager to meet customer requirements and deadlines.

Minimum Qualifications:

  • Must have an Active Top Secret with SCI eligibility US Government Clearance.  Note: US Citizenship is required to maintain a Top-Secret Clearance.
  • 6+ years of related experience, including working with Cisco switches, firewalls, and routers, or a Bachelor’s degree with 4+ years of related experience.
  • Current Security+ or other DoD Approved 8140 / 8570 IAT II security certification required as per DOD Cyber Exchange website reference.
  • Current CCNA, CCNP, or CCIE certification is required.
  • Superb interpersonal, communication, and organizational skills.
  • Ability to work both independently and within a structured team environment.
  • Strong knowledge of networking port & protocols, including TCP/IP, Radius, SSL, DNS, DHCP, and other common network services.
  • Proficient in network equipment patch management, software installation, maintenance, and upgrades.
  • Knowledge of VMware networking design for ESXi hosts, VSAN, Virtual Desktop infrastructures and VCenter.

Other Requirements:

  • This is a non-remote, fulltime on-site position.
  • Must be able to lift up to 50 pounds and work in a variety of environments installing, configuring, and maintaining IT/network related equipment.
  • Occasional travel is required.

Preferred Qualifications:

  • Previous experience working with DoD and classified networks.
  • Knowledge of data security and disaster recovery systems and procedures.
  • Strong listening, analysis, reasoning, and problem-solving skills.
