Duties

The Staff Psychologist is administratively within the North Florida / South Georgia Veterans Health System Mental Health Service Line, with primary assignment to the Pain Management Clinic located in Gainesville, FL.

Psychologists working in the North-FL / South-GA Veterans Healthcare System are engaged in a wide range of applied clinical activities throughout our system. We are seeking applicants with strong clinical background and training who would be interested in working as part of dynamic multidisciplinary teams serving Veterans throughout North-Central FL and South GA.

Psychologists are responsible for implementation of evidence-based programs and interventions for Veterans. This includes, but is not limited to, psychological and psycho-diagnostic assessment, group therapy, individual therapy, family therapy, treatment planning, and consultation.

Applicants should possess good time management skills, good communication and negotiation skills to balance workload demands. NF/SG VHS has implemented a completely computerized medical record. Applicants should be familiar with and able to use a personal computer. Applicants should be proficient in writing psychological reports, chart notes, and treatment summaries. Applicants should be able to prioritize their work appropriately and should seek consultation as needed to deal with difficult cases. Applicants need excellent customer service skills and are expected to interact effectively with Veterans, Veteran family members, and coworkers. Psychologists should be able to remain positive even during times of high levels of stress and should be able to work collegially with all other professions. Psychologists are required to work effectively with individuals who have opinions and/or attitudes that differ from their own.

DUTIES INCLUDE: We are seeking psychologists to provide services for Veterans in the North-Florida/South Georgia Veterans Health System. Psychologists in this system work in a variety of settings including community-based outpatient clinics, large outpatient clinics and medical centers. Psychologist work as part of multi-disciplinary teams while also being part of a community of psychologists who contribute to an APA-accredited internship and fellowship training program and an APA accredited continuing-education program.

Work Schedule: Monday-Friday, 8:00am - 4:30pm

Telework: Ad Hoc Telework - Telework that occurs on an occasional, non-routine basis. Telework that occurs to complete short-term special assignments or to accommodate special circumstances even though the telework arrangement may occur continuously for a limited and specific period of time.
