Medical Staff Services Officer

Summary:
The Medical Staff Services Officer (MSSO) reports to the Chief Medical Officer and leads the Office of Medical Staff Services. The MSSO ensures efficient credentialing and privileging of providers at St. Peter's Health and manages governance of the medical staff, including meeting coordination and compliance. The MSSO supports accreditation, facilitates communication, and drives process improvement in the department.
Responsibilities:
1. Credentialing & Privileging:
- Lead credentialing efforts and onboard new providers.
- Maintain organized and secure credential files.
- Manage appointment and reappointment processes.
- Revise and monitor credentialing policies.
- Compile practitioner profiles for reappointments.
- Coordinate proctoring and privilege requests.
- Communicate application statuses.
2. Meeting Coordination:
- Prepare agendas, minutes, and announcements for meetings.
- Coordinate meeting logistics.
3. Communication Coordination:
- Maintain accurate Medical/Allied Health Staff databases.
- Manage mailing lists and maintain electronic files.
- Authorize access to the medical staff website.
4. Office Functions:
- Direct and coordinate all medical staff support services.
- Manage daily operations and personnel of the Office of Medical Staff Services.
- Oversee special projects, physician support program, and staff development.
- Manage budgets and staff evaluations.
- Coordinate physician events and surveys.
- Maintain compliance with regulatory standards and develop policies.
- Oversee credentialing software and provide user training.
5. Other Responsibilities:
- Address issues between physicians and hospital.
- Support disciplinary processes and legal compliance.
- Conduct new physician orientation.
- Negotiate and monitor credentialing agreements.
- Coordinate peer review functions and CME programs.
- Manage physician on-call schedules.
Qualifications:
- Experience: 3 years in healthcare, specifically in medical staff services. Credentialing and privileging experience required.
- Education: Bachelor's degree required. Medical Administrative Support training preferred.
- Leadership: Strong leadership and management skills.
- Certifications:CPMSM (within 5 years) or CPCS (within 3 years).
Skills:
- Professional demeanor and confidentiality.
- Excellent interpersonal and communication skills.
- Knowledge of DNV-GL standards.
- Strong organizational, analytical, and decision-making abilities.
- Proficiency in MS Office and excellent customer service.
- Ability to manage stress, deadlines, and customer needs.
- Initiative and teamwork orientation.
Reporting:
Reports to the Chief Medical Officer. Supervises all FTEs in the Medical Staff Services Office. Interacts with Medical Staff Leadership, Hospital Administration, and other departments.
