POSITION SUMMARY: The Postdoctoral Fellow for the Department of Biochemistry and Molecular Biology will be responsible for studying the sequence, structure, function relationships of nanoparticle and nanopore-forming peptides.
REQUIRED EDUCATION AND EXPERIENCE:
Ph.D. or M.D., within 12 months of hiring. Research experience in biochemistry, biotechnology, cell biology, or microbiology.REQUIRED KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS, ABILITIES/COMPETENCIES TYPICALLY NEEDED TO PERFORM THIS JOB SUCCESSFULLY:
Proficient research skills and the ability to effectively perform biochemistry and cell biology research. Strong computer skills, including an advanced working knowledge of Microsoft Word, Excel, and/or Power Point software applications. Solid analytical skills and attention to detail; ability to read literature and understand its content with analytic mind. Ability to independently work on research assignments and create new projects, as assigned by the PI. Excellent verbal and written communication skills. Excellent organizational skills. Excellent interpersonal skills. Ability to multi-task, and prioritize work assignments. Function: Designs and executes experiments; using the following techniques: peptide synthesis, HPLC, cell biology, tissue culture, confocal microscopy, fluorescence, flow cytometry. Fluorescence spectroscopy, and circular dichroism spectroscopy. Analyzes data and images. Prepares data charts and presents experimental findings.
Performance Standards: Actively participates and engages in scientific research, independently designs, performs and interprets experiments with thoughtful analysis, neatly organizes data, and orally articulates data analysis and experimental findings.

Function: Reviews manuscripts, drafts new manuscripts, and writes reviews or book articles.
