Summary

This position is eligible for the Education Debt Reduction Program (EDRP), a student loan payment reimbursement program. Duties

This is an open continuous announcement and will remain open until August 23, 2024.   • This is a direct patient care position which requires General Core Psychology privileges and primarily serves a homebound population with complex and chronic, disabling disease. As such, this position also requires the provider to obtain a government driver's license (different from personal license) and use a government issued vehicle to make home visits.
  • Treat a wide variety of psychological and cognitive conditions and demonstrates knowledge regarding the role and interaction of cognitive, personality, and psychological factors.
  • Diagnose psychological disorders through a variety of assessment techniques including clinical interview, use of objective psychological measures, and cognitive screeners. Assessments are used for differential diagnosis, treatment planning and determination of capacity. Mental health treatment and prevention-oriented services will emphasize evidence-based and best practice approaches including individual and couples/family therapy to patients and their families/caregivers alongside environmental interventions.
  • Provide evidence-based interventions to help HBPC patients manage behavioral factors associated with health-related problems and promote medical adherence. Consultation with other disciplines on the HBPC team is a normal part of this practice.
  • In addition to the primary role as mental health provider for HBPC, this individual may provide behavioral health services to other teams within VA North Texas Health Care System on an as needed basis. The employee is responsible for timely completion of all clinical charting and documentation required by the Medical Center.
  • There are no formal administrative responsibilities with this position beyond those associated with program development. The employee may supervise psychology practicum students, interns, post-doctoral fellows, and unlicensed staff psychologists. The employee may serve a member of the Psychology training program and participate in applicant interviews, selection and weekly didactic training.
  • As with all staff psychologist positions within Mental Health Service, the employee is called upon to serve on ad hoc workgroups or committees within the service to address problems and concerns of the profession and service.
