Duties

As an Economist within the National Minerals Information Center, some of your specific duties will include:

  • Review and validate mineral commodity data collected by the USGS through industry surveys, ensuring accuracy and reliability.
  • Assess data quality from statistical canvasses and recommend enhancements to survey methods.
  • Develop quantitative supply and demand forecasts for minerals, considering operational status and industry trends.
  • Act as a USGS contact for specific mineral commodities, offering technical guidance and advisory services.
  • Monitor industry developments, consumption trends, and relevant factors affecting mineral resources.
