Howmet Fastening Systems is seeking a Machining Tech II for 2nd shift in our Torrance, CA location. HFS is a business unit of Howmet Aerospace, headquartered in Torrance, California. We hold the number one global position in aerospace fastening systems, and we’re the North American leader in commercial transportation fasteners. Our high-tech, multi-material fastening systems are found nose to tail on aircraft and aerospace engines. Our products are also critical components of industrial gas turbines, automobiles, commercial transportation vehicles, and construction and industrial equipment.
Job Duties and Responsibilities
Sets up and completely operates any standard and specialized machines to perform secondary operations in departments to which assignedSets up machines, according to work order set standard procedures, specialized company products, and/or processesLearns the set up and operation of any new machines added to the departments to which assignedChecks parts with standard gauges or precision measuring instruments and submits parts for inspection as requiredOperates machines to ensure proper functioning and releases to and instructs operator in procedures for producing parts in conformance with specificationsReads blueprints and has knowledge to use micrometers, calipers, comparators, thread gauges, depth micrometers and dial indicators as needed.SPC Charting as requiredKeeps work are clean, safe, and in an orderly fashion on a daily basisPerforms other tasks as required
Knowledge and Skills:
1-2 suggested years of total experiencePerform entry level set-ups
Understand the speeds and feeds pertaining to the machine they are operating (where applicable)
Knowledge of all measuring instruments and gages for their operationSpeak effectively before groups of customersRead and interpret blue printsCertified in lock out/tag outWorking knowledge in manufacturing and quality processes and principles
Basic Qualifications
High school diploma or GED preferred Minimum 1 year of experience as a machinist Employees must be legally authorized to work in the United States. Verification of employment eligibility will be required at the time of hire. Visa sponsorship is not available for this position.This position is subject to the International Traffic in Arms Regulations (ITAR) which requires U.S. person status. ITAR defines U.S. person as an U.S. Citizen, U.S. Permanent Resident (i.e. 'Green Card Holder'), Political Asylee, or Refugee.
Benefits/Salary:
The position includes competitive wages and a comprehensive benefits package, including health insurance (medical, dental, vision), excellent 401k matching program, paid holidays and vacation. The salary range for this position is $19.00-$26.00.
