Role: 

Under the supervision of the Mental Health Programs Director, the School Based Clinician has the primary responsibility for providing direct mental health services to children and youth at assigned school site. School-based Clinicians will also provide services in the community and may have a small percentage of their caseload community based. Services include providing individual, group, and family therapy (as needed) to elementary and middle school level children; collaboration with educational staff; performing intake evaluations, which includes forming diagnostic formulations; providing case management, treatment planning, and therapeutic interventions for children and youth as a member of the multi-disciplinary treatment team. School Based clinicians will also develop and provide specific site based trainings for caregivers and/or school staff. Topics range from supporting school sites to be more trauma informed to support staff and caregiver better evaluate high risk behaviors and develop safety plans. Starting pay is commensurate with relevant experience above the minimum requirements.

Our attractive compensation package includes base salary, sign-on bonus, 4 weeks PTO (5 weeks after 2 years) , 16 holidays including 2 floating holidays, medical insurance, unlimited access to tele-health, and more.

Services are delivered in Contra Costa, program headquarter located in Oakland, CA.

Duties and Responsibilities:

Provides culturally/linguistically sensitive individual, group, family and collateral outpatient psychotherapy to EPSDT/Medi-Cal eligible clients referred for treatment.Support school staff and families better understand mental health needs and provision by providing 1-3 annual trainings  Provides individual, group, and/or collateral Mental Health Rehabilitation Services as needed. Co-facilitates groups with team members if needed and as appropriate. Develops, cultivates, and maintains positive relationships with the principal, school staff, and team clinicians. Maintains caseload as relevant to FTE (1.0 FTE= 18-20 case minimum: case minimum) and co-facilitates at least one group each fiscal year, starting in October. Provides services to at least 25 unduplicated kids in a school year (1.0 FTE = 25 unduplicated;). Informs Principal when making a CPS report and may support teachers in doing so, if requested. Knowledge of the standards set by the county, state, Board of Psychology/ Board of Behavioral Sciences, Medi-Cal, EPSDT and internal ABW clinical quality standards. Attend appropriate meetings, which include weekly group supervision, staff meetings, trainings and supervisionMonitor eligibility and obtain authorizations where appropriate.Consults with parents regarding educational and social issues of their children. Helps parents understand their child's abilities, needs and opportunities, especially in relationship to mental health.Meet minimum productivity of 40% of service providers timeUse time-management skills and supervisory support to meet productivity, documentation, and timeliness requirements.Follow regulatory guidelines, mandated reporting, and program/agency protocols in performing dutiesAbide by all provisions of the ABW personnel manualPerform any other duties as directed

Qualifications:

MSW, MA, PhD or PsyD from accredited school of social work or psychology. Must be licensed or registered with BBS or BOP.Excellent clinical and writing skillsBilingual (Spanish/English) a plusDirect experience working with diverse racial and ethnic populations in community and/or school settingsUnderstanding of basic theoretical and developmental principles of child and youth developmentAbility to understand psychological assessment reports; psychological assessment experience a plus for psychologist applicantsMust have a car and good driving recordUnderstand and desire to work with a strength-based mental health approachKnowledge, understanding, and willingness to work with interdisciplinary approaches and partnershipsUnderstanding DSM, and treatment plansAbility to work independently and to work as a member of a teamExcellent organizational, computer and communication skills

Position Type/Expected Hours of Work

This is a full-time position. Days and hours of work are Monday through Friday, 9:00 a.m. to 5:00 p.m. (subject to change, with supervisor approval, to meet the business needs).

Travel

Local travel to various worksites and local schools is required.

Work Authorization/Security Clearance

Employees must pass a livescan and receive TB and health clearances prior to employment. Driving records are periodically reviewed per company policy.
