Term Adjunct, Sociology, College of Arts & Sciences
The Department of Sociology invites applications for an adjunct faculty member to teach courses in the 2024-2025 academic year. We anticipate needing one or two instructors for two undergraduate courses each per semester. This can be a remote position, but we are also open to the possibility of assigning in-person classes if the successful candidate is based locally.
Job Overview
On a part-time, limited basis, the Adjunct Faculty member’s primary academic function is teaching.
Essential Functions
On a part-time basis, conduct and teach assigned undergraduate-level courses online or in person (mode of instruction depends on the department’s needs).
May serve as an academic advisor for students.
Engage in other activities ancillary to or in support of these responsibilities.
Review, and where necessary, respond in a timely manner to all University-related communications.
Minimum Requirements
Masters or Ph.D. degree in Sociology (in hand).
Excellent written and oral communication skills with the ability to present complex material to students unfamiliar with a subject.
Experience teaching an online sociology course.
Ability to work and collaborate with individuals from a variety of culturally diverse backgrounds.

At least two semesters of online teaching of sociology courses.
