Main position objectives

The intern’s main position objective is to work independently and help support others on the die plate design team. With this internship, the position helps gain an understanding of what we do in the company and expand their knowledge about  Die plates. 

Position description – Tasks, responsibilities, competencies

List 8-10 specific tasks – start each description indicating an action e.g. leads, advises, develops etc.)

  • Complete and update CAD models, detailed drawings, bills of material, and shop information packets for shop fabrication.
  • Assure all CAD model templates, DXF, and other digital information are transferred to CNC Programmers as necessary.
  • Provide customer CAD sketches & Drawings.

Other tasks assigned by manager

The incumbent considers all interests of quality, accident prevention and occupational safety as well as environmental safety in a preventive manner within his scope of responsibility and supports the avoidance of damages to people, facilities, assets, material and environment actively

The incumbent is obliged to perform tasks requested by management that relate to his position scope or arise from company needs. This job description reflects current status, right to make changes reserved.

Work Environment

Work in this position is in an office and a factory floor environment.  While performing the duties of this job in a factory setting, the employee may be exposed to fumes or airborne particles, moving mechanical parts and vibration. The noise level in the work environment and job sites can be loud and PPE may be required.

Physical Requirements

  • The physical demands described here are representative of those that must be met by an employee to successfully perform the essential functions of this job.
  • While performing the duties of this job, the employee may be required to stand, walk, or bend.  The employee must be able to lift items up to 50 pounds.
  •  Specific vision abilities required by this job include close vision, distance vision, color vision, peripheral vision, depth perception and ability to adjust focus.

Job Specification

Education (area of studies, Management, IT etc.)

Mandatory

Enrolled in an associate degree or higher in Mechanical Design Program

Desirable

Any certifications in the use of mechanical design and/ or analysis software (Solidworks highly preferred)

Professional experience (description incl. No. of years)

Mandatory

Familiar with Solid works / Inventor

Desirable

  • CNC Programing / Set up / Operation
  • Wire, plunge, and/or fast hole drill EDM experience
  • Knowledge of heat treating
  • Knowledge of brazing
  • Experience grinding carbides and other hard substances.

Knowledge of various steps & methods in manufacturing of Gala die plates

Interpersonal skills and behavioral competencies
