77 an hour POSITION Overview:
The Activity Coordinator is responsible for providing direct services to Lanakila Meals on Wheels' program participants by developing, coordinating, and conducting activities in line with the Title III Congregate Dining program and Lanakila Pacific's expectations.
This could include in-person and virtual sessions, serving meals, and conducting community outreach.
The Activity Coordinator supports the mission, vision, and values of the organization; demonstrates Lanakila Pacific's values of teamwork, excellence, achievement, and motivation in all personal interactions; and exemplifies Lanakila's STAR service standards.
ESSENTIAL DUTIES &
Responsibilities:
Independently conducts in-person and virtual group activities for seniors.
This could include exercise classes, wellness, field trips, and digital literacy classes.
The activities should be senior appropriate considering the seniors' interests and abilities.
Creates a healthy and positive environment that is conducive for senior-learning, inclusion, and fun.
Be open to feedback and constructive criticism to continuously refine instructional methods and curriculum.
Develops and maintains positive rapport with program participants, host facility staff, volunteers, guest speakers, and community supporters.
Develops and updates the curriculum to meet the needs of the participants and ensure the curriculum is up-to-date and relevant.
This may include developing or updating lesson plans, handouts, presentations; and securing and transporting supplies, prepping for, and cleaning up after, classes and activities.
Delivers and serves meals in accordance with food safety guidelines.
Cleans up after meal service and ensures room is restored to the same condition or better than it was at arrival.
Assists in recruiting guest speakers and resources for in-person and virtual group classes and activities, ensuring guest speakers and seniors are well prepared for the experience; facilitates the discussions.
Conducts outreach.
Promotes the Lanakila Meals on Wheels services in-person, by phone, email, and other means available with the goal of recruiting program participants.
Screens and assesses potential participants to determine preliminary program eligibility.
Completes intakes, assessments, reassessments, applications, and other documents as needed to assist participants in becoming eligible and applying to receive program services.
Make recommendations and assist with referrals to other appropriate services as needed.
Communicates with applicants regarding eligibility status and makes recommendations and referrals to other services if ineligible for program.
Follows up with active participants periodically to support participants maintaining services and assess if needs have changed.
Accurately completes program reports on time, including but not limited to roster of attendance, length of sessions, participant comments and feedback, guest speaker/activity details, meals, and outreach efforts.
Ensures accurate reporting of expenditures.
Supports the preparation of data/reports for billing and operations.
Effectively communicates with staff and host sites, including any updates or changes in schedule, participants, emergency requests, or other service issues.
Represents the program in handling complaints and timely and appropriately addresses program and participant issues and grievances.
Addresses any inappropriate participant behavior.
Counsel's participants and, with supervisor approval, terminates participants when appropriate.
Creates and maintains a fiscally responsible work environment, eliminating waste and efficiently utilizing resources.
Responsible for the security of all assets assigned.
Collaborates and coordinates with other team members needed to achieve program or organizational goals.
Other Duties:
Provides back-up support for the Lanakila Meals on Wheels department and special projects/events as needed.
Operates in a fiscally responsible way, protecting and safeguarding company assets and eliminating waste and inefficiencies.
Ensures projects are delivered on time, within scope and within budget through regular monitoring of outcomes and expenditures, on assigned projects.
Demonstrates cultural competency and the ability to interact effectively with people of different cultures, socio-economic backgrounds, and cognitive abilities without bias.
Serves as a role model for the staff, participants, and volunteers and as a member of the team works to create a healthful and respectful environment.
Ensures all safety procedures and practices are followed and enforced throughout the packing and delivery process including safe food handling and sanitation procedures, and that safeguards and proper safety gear, such as gloves, are used when appropriate.
Demonstrates the ability to work with confidential information and comply with established policies, procedures, and practices.
Demonstrates a willingness to gain and possess thorough knowledge of Lanakila Pacific's programs and seeks ongoing educational opportunities related to the position.
Performs other related business duties as assigned, including but not limited to program promotion, representing the organization at events, and participating in fundraising activities.
Completes training and attends meetings as mandated by organizational policy.

Qualifications:
Required:
Education:
An Associate degree from an accredited institution in Education, Communication, Social Work, or another related field.
A high school diploma or Certificate of Completion or equivalent plus years of experience with direct supervision of people, training/teaching/facilitating adults, experience in human service agency or related field may qualify to be substituted on a year-to-year basis for the education requirement.
Experience:
2-years of training/teaching/facilitating experience; preferably adults in a classroom setting.
Clearance/Certification:
1) TB clearance, 2) Criminal background check, 3) Pre-employment drug testing, 4) Child Protective Services/Adult Protective check, 5) Valid driver's license, clean driver's abstract, and access to an insured vehicle.
CPR/First Aid Certification, Department of Health Food Handlers Safety (Obtain on the job) Preferred:
Experience:
1-year working in a human services program or direct customer service serving the elderly and/or disabled; 1-year of work experience leading group recreation/activities; 1-year of work experience recruiting/outreaching/marketing/sales.
WORKING CONDITIONS:
Schedule:
Scheduled to work 5 days a week.
Monday to Friday, 8:
00 am - 4:
30 pm; 8-hour shift may vary.
May be required to work outside of normal business hours including weekends and Thanksgiving and Christmas holidays to meet operational needs and contract requirements.
Indoors, office setting, recreation room, classroom, production areas including inside walk-in reefer/freezer.
Outdoors in various residential, in home, and community settings, travel to provide services, to attend events and meetings, distribute meals, outreach, etc.
