We are seeking a highly motivated, proactive, and detail-oriented Laboratory Operations Associate to join our rapidly growing team. This role will support our research team by assisting with laboratory operations and environmental health & safety. They will maintain and continuously improve on best practices in the lab. The Laboratory Operations Specialist is an on-site role that offers cross functional collaboration within our organization. The successful candidate will focus on the operational aspects of the laboratory and provide support to the team. Responsibilities

  • General Laboratory Operations.
    • In collaboration with the Lab Manger & EHS consultant, write and oversee lab safety and operational compliance guidance documents and training materials. Effectively communicate and enforce safety rules, conduct orientation and annual safety training for all lab personnel.
    • Responsible for our chemical waste, monitoring, and vendor management for waste removal and disposal.
    • Order and receive the lab consumables & supplies.
    • Organize and maintain our Chemical inventory management system, including tracking quantities, to ensure adherence to flammable storage limits.
    • Establish lab procedures; create and manage lab-related documentation, and organizational processes such as annual laboratory cleanouts and calibrations.
    • Collaborating with functional leads to understand and anticipate lab needs (lab optimization, space needs, equipment, instrumentation, storage, etc.) to develop short- and long-term area improvement plans.
    • Become a resource to our scientists by supporting their efforts; answer questions, provide direction, and offer assistance.
    • Manage the relocation of workstations, furniture, equipment, and accessories.
    • Maintain audit trail of packing slips for laboratory and office by scanning and tracking receipts.
    • Scrub backlog of support tickets and follow up as needed.
      • Shipping and Receiving
        • Manage shipping for domestic and international shipments of lab materials, including the preparation of material for shipment and receiving from external vendors.
        • Receive loading dock deliveries and direct to planned location.
        • Assist in the delivery and unpack of equipment.
        • Record deliveries in our package delivery system. The Necessities

          • BA/BS degree with 3+ years of relevant experience or equivalent.
        • 2+ years of Biotech / Pharma experience required.
      • Experience with or knowledge of lab instruments and software.
    • Working knowledge of laboratory safety policies and procedures; Environmental, Health and Safety, Chemical Hygiene, Biosafety, Hazardous Materials Storage and Handling
  • Responsive and proactive with the ability to multitask and work across cross functional teams.
