Coaction Is looking for a Sr. Data Engineer that will be responsible for building and providing technical expertise over Coaction's data landscape . This would include learning and understanding the architectural footprint and providing data solutions. This is a hands-on role in new development, support, maintenance, participation of data strategy, and providing technical direction for EDW transformation. Experience in working with different parts of an insurance company such as claims, finance, underwriting, policy, and actuarial, etc. is essential.

This role will have influence on decisions being made for best practices in managing our data assets. This would include but not limited to modernizing and expanding the enterprise's data warehouse to improve efficiency and provide data consumers with consistent and reliable access to key data. This position requires extensive knowledge of property and casualty insurance and will focus on supporting business initiatives to ensure the enterprise follows best practices for data standards and data management.

Responsibilities
  • Collaboration with different departments (Claims, Policy, Regulatory, Finance, Reinsurance, Actuarial) working towards data solutions. This could be ETL, Reporting, Performance tuning, etc.
  • Methodically envision data pipelines and how data will flow through the enterprise.
  • Evaluate current data management technologies and what additional tools are needed.
  • Determine upgrades and improvements to current data architectures.
  • Work with various SMEs in understanding business process flows/ functional requirements specifications of existing system and understanding current challenges and constraints and future expectation.
  • Excellent client interfacing and communication skills
  • Very good understanding of Business Intelligence concepts technologies
  • Mentoring other team members
  • Drive change management process across all controlled environments.
  • Monitor and analyze technology risk trends, recommend appropriate policies, procedures, and practices to strengthen internal operations.


Qualifications

  • 10+ years Property and Casualty experience
  • 10+ years Datawarehouse experience in Information Technology
  • Experience leading technical direction.
  • Creation or participation in Data Strategy
  • Experience working with Actuaries, predictive models, reporting solutions
  • Experience with data visualization, data migration, data mining, and data modeling tools
  • Experience optimizing and performance tuning databases
  • Strong understanding and knowledge of ETL and data pipelines. Certificates preferred but not required.
  • Extensive knowledge of a wide variety of IT operations principles including resilient and high-availability architectures
  • Understanding of DevOps principles, tools, and the intersection with cloud architecture
  • Experience with data lake and data modernization concepts.
  • Strong interpersonal skills, to help negotiate priorities and to resolve conflicts among stakeholders.
  • Positive attitude, highly self-directed and motivated to become a system expert.
  • Superior analytical and problem-solving capabilities
  • Ability to apply creativity and judgment in identifying and analyzing complex problems and providing recommendations to leadership team.
  • Outstanding communication and interpersonal abilities
  • Bachelor's or Master's degree in Computer Science, Information Systems, or other related field
