Hiring/Budgeted Salary or Hourly Range: The budgeted salary range that the University reasonably expects to pay for this position is $27.16 - $36.93/hr.

Full Salary Range: The full salary range for this position is $27.16 - $46.70/hr. Salary offers are determined based on final candidate qualifications and experience; the budget for the position; and the application of fair, equitable, and consistent pay practices at the University.

Work Location: Elings Hall, 3rd floor

Working Days and Hours: Monday - Friday 8:00am to 5:00pm

The California NanoSystems Institute (CNSI) is one of four UC-based California Institutes for Science and Innovation (Cal ISI). CNSI's mission is to create an inclusive, collaborative, closely-integrated and strongly interactive environment that will foster innovation in nanosystems research, educate the next generation of diverse leaders in science and engineering, and bring scientific and technological innovation into the economy and society. The CNSI oversees the management of a large portfolio of extramurally and intramurally funded research projects, including the $25M UCSB NSF Quantum Foundry and $23.87M NSF BioPACIFIC Materials Innovation Platform (MIP). The CNSI provides broad support of UC Santa Barbara's research enterprise through numerous shared multi-user research laboratories and facilities, the Center for Scientific Computing (CSC), a Technology Incubator, and multiple grant and fellowship programs. The CNSI is a major, interdisciplinary unit that serves participating faculty in multiple disciplines and manages a 11,904 gross square foot building. Brief Summary of Job Duties

Under the direction of the Financial Manager, will provide analytical support to the financial operations team including, but not limited to, assistance in account and general ledger reconciliation, invoicing and special projects, as assigned.

Performs the reconciliation of general ledgers and individual accounts, maintaining accuracy of information recorded in the accounting system, researching, analyzing and reconciling financial data. Assist in closing out accounts, as appropriate. Identifies financial transaction discrepancies and errors on general ledgers and resolves related issues with Financial Manager. Gathers supporting documentation for general ledger entries for all accounts, as requested. Verifies that the charges are allowable and applicable to the funding source.

Maintain GUS financial system, assuring necessary data is entered and accurate, expense are properly liened, with liens released in a timely manner. Review and processing of invoices and Flexcard transactions resulting from Institute's purchasing activity including allocation to proper funding source post-purchase. Confirmation of the receipt, quality and condition of orders or services with end users. Verification that charges are allowable and applicable to funding sources. Identify and resolve discrepancies. Preparation and maintenance of accounts payable vendor files and various accounts payable projects.

Required Qualifications

High School Diploma

1-3 Years experience managing detailed transactions accurately and in a timely manner

1-3 Years Strong communication skills

Proficiency in the use of spreadsheet and database software.

Ability to function effectively as member of a team.

Intermediate knowledge and understanding of internal control practices and their impact on protecting University resources

Preferred Qualifications

Bachelors degree in related area and/or equivalent experience/training

1-3 years financial accounting and analysis experience

Special Conditions of Employment

Satisfactory completion of a criminal history background check

Job Functions and Percentages of Time:
