INVESTMENT ASSOCIATE | AUSTIN, TEXAS

HM International is a family office based in Austin, TX. The primary mission of the family office is to serve the investment, financial/accounting, tax, fiduciary, estate planning, philanthropic, risk management and administrative interests of the founding families and their related entities.

WHAT WE’RE LOOKING FOR:

We are seeking an associate to work on the investment team. The role is based in Austin, TX.

This person will support the Chief Investment Officer with due diligence of investment opportunities, portfolio construction & monitoring, as well as investment reporting. The ideal candidate is an extremely organized individual who can effectively multi-task with high attention to detail and accuracy, strong communication skills, and the ability to take initiative and work autonomously. Maintaining confidentiality, exercising good judgment, having a strong work ethic, and working cohesively within a small team are imperative to success in this role.

WHAT YOU’LL DO:

Responsible for diligence related to investment opportunities. The family office has a broad investment mandate including Public Equities, Fixed Income and Alternative Investments, including private equity, venture capital, real estate, and credit. Assist in underwriting investment opportunities, including analyzing deals, evaluating external managers, and synthesizing opportunity details into concise, easy-to-understand points. Preparing investment memos which summarize due diligence and underwriting models to present to investment team and family. Tracking all incoming deal flow, providing initial analysis on new investment opportunities, and following up on the deal flow process.  Portfolio Monitoring: Prepare analysis for Investment Committee and family office clients on existing portfolio, including portfolio construction/asset allocation, investment budgeting, cash flow modeling, and updates on current investments. 

WHAT YOU’LL BRING

Minimum Qualifications:

Bachelor’s Degree from Accredited four-year college or university, with major coursework in business, finance or a related area. 1-3 years of full-time professional investment experience or other relevant experience involving investment evaluation, financial modeling, and data analysis. High sense of integrity, emotional intelligence, and trustworthiness with a growth mindset and desire to continuously learn and improve. Ability to handle sensitive matters with discretion and confidentiality. Positive attitude with a ‘no task too big or too small’ mentality. Exceptional verbal and written communication skills with attention to detail and accuracy. Highly organized with strong time management skills. Able to handle multiple concurrent assignments and competing priorities with a high degree of accuracy. Ability to think and operate independently. Proficiency in financial modeling.

Preferred Qualifications

Progress towards a CFA or CAIA or strong willingness to start. Experience or coursework in data analytics or math. Comfortable working with databases and distributed digital tools.
