Job Summary

The Director, Supply Planning will analyze all raw material supply chain risks and improvement opportunities for stability, cost, and financial resource utilization.  Develop procurement strategy and improvement to business cash flow through reduced inventories.  Direct production scheduling, purchasing, warehousing of all raw materials and work in process.  Improve existing procedures to streamline activities.  Direct the movement, storage, and processing of all inventory.  Utilize common continuous improvement tools and systems. Develop data collection and communication systems as needed to facilitate training and communication across the broader production team.

Responsibilities

-Manage activities related to material requirements planning, controlling inventory, warehousing, and receiving.
-Define performance metrics for measurement, comparison, or evaluation of supply chain factors, such as product cost or quality.
-Define inventory accuracy metrics and resolve systemic variances.
-Implement new or improved supply chain processes to improve efficiency or performance.
-Determine appropriate equipment and staffing levels to load, unload, move, or store materials.
-Select transportation routes to maximize economy by combining shipments or consolidating warehousing and distribution.
-Ensure effective linkage between MRP and the production schedule.
-Optimize production schedules around economic order quantities.
-Observe work and employees to ensure that conversion of raw materials supports the production schedule.
-Ensure availability of raw materials, work in process, supplies and requisition additional items as needed.
-Facilitate an environment and organizational philosophy of continuous improvement.
 

Requirements

-B.S. in Business Management and 10+ years of experience or an equivalent combination of each.
-APICS or CPSM certification highly desired.
-Experience with business and management principles involved in strategic planning, resource allocation, human resources modeling, situational leadership, and coordination of people and resources.
-Experience working with raw materials, production processes, quality systems, cost management systems, and techniques for safe and efficient manufacture of goods.
-Experience with performance assessment of self, direct reports, teams, and external suppliers and customers to make improvements or take corrective action.
