Job Summary: The Senior Architectural Design Coordinator provides architectural support in a specialized area for existing and new campus projects. Assists in the evaluation, selection, application, and adaptation of architectural techniques, procedures, and design.

Additional Department Summary: The Senior Architectural Design Coordinator develops and manages ADA standards for University projects. Reviews plans and document for general compliance with ADA on non-capital projects. Possesses Revit and graphics skills. Plans and produces work requiring sound profession judgment in evaluation, selection, application, and adaptation of architectural techniques, procedures, and design under the supervision of the Staff Architect. Assesses, evaluates, and analyzes existing campus facilities. Prepares drawings, specifications, estimates, and other documents for new and renovation work. Develops new approaches to solving design and construction issues. Promotes sustainability techniques and new design technologies in new and renovation projects. Monitors construction for compliance to applicable codes, accepted practices, and University standards. Provides architectural support to the department relating to campus projects, including the review of design documents and shop drawings.

Required Minimum Qualifications:  Bachelor's degree and four (4) years of architectural experience to include four (4) years Revit experience and/or 3D modeling in an architectural work environment; OR associate's degree and six (6) years of architectural experience to include four (4) years Revit experience and/or 3D modeling in an architectural work environment.

Additional Required Department Minimum Qualifications: Bachelor's degree and five (5) years of work experience in an architectural environment; OR associate's degree and seven (7) years of work experience in an architectural environment. Experience must include five (5) years of Revit experience and/or 3D modeling; AND some specialized experience in architectural compliance with the Americans with Disabilities Act (ADA).

Must have valid U.S. driver's license. Must be at least 19 years of age at time of hire and have an acceptable Motor Vehicle Report that is in compliance with University policies. Applicants under the age of 21 will have some driving restrictions.

Final candidates who are not current University of Alabama employees must submit to and successfully pass a post-offer drug screen.

Skills and Knowledge: Knowledge of Revit, ICC Codes, and ADAAG requirements for buildings and building sites. In-depth knowledge of architectural design concepts and practices. Extensive knowledge of the construction process for new construction and renovation. Ability to communicate clearly, and to relate to users, administrators, design professionals, contractors, and staff members.

Preferred Qualifications: Experience in classical architecture. Experience in designing University facilities.
