Pay based on experience, room and board AND excellent tips This is a fast paced job, so be ready to move and shake. Work week consists of 6 days on: 1 day off. You will meet a variety of interesting characters so bring your best customer service and a smile. We value good working relationships and connecting with customers. 

Although this job is for inside the Lodge, Sun Canyon also runs trail rides on the Rocky Mountain Front, boat rides up Gibson Reservoir to the head of the Sun River, and pack trips into the Bob Marshall National Forest. All staff helps to take bookings for trail and boat rides as well as interact with all our backcountry guests. We have 5 cabins on our property and rent out throughout our open seasons. As you take these reservations, you will need good organization, handwriting, and communication skills. 

All server/bartenders share a house. There are individual bedrooms with a shared kitchen, bathroom, and living room. Oftentimes staff hang out in the living room for movie nights. Know that the house occupants must keep it clean and tidy. There are no animals allowed in the house. Meals are provided through the company every day.  

Sun Canyon Lodge is a family run business that has a small dedicated staff. It is open Mother's Day Weekend through the end of November. The lodge is open 7 days/week at 7am and the kitchen closes at 8 pm. The bar is open until 2 am if there are customers in and drinking. Augusta, Montana is the closest town to Sun Canyon Lodge. 

Josh and Niki Carlbom have been the proud purveyors of Sun Canyon Lodge’s various goods and services for the better part of two decades. Josh’s parents, Lee and Sue Carlbom, purchased the establishment in 1983, when Josh was five years old. Niki’s parents, Dan and Shelly Campbell, have been a constant presence for the last twenty years, and an integral part of the Lodge and the community around Sun Canyon. Together now, Josh and Niki operate the bar, restaurant, and outfitting. They have been doing this for sixteen seasons (since 2005), gaining widespread respect for the knowledge of the land and the hospitality they provide to their guests.

The lodge is located at the eastern gateway to the vast Lewis and Clark Forest and the unique Bob Marshall Wilderness Area. The majestic Rocky Mountains suddenly end the otherwise rolling foothill country of eastern Montana. The high rock walls rise up abruptly in majestic grandeur to welcome those who venture into the last of the true mountain wilderness areas. In your downtime, enjoy a swim in Gibson Reservoir, fishing on the Sun River, or a myriad of hikes around the canyon.
