Summary:
Manages staff responsible for support of payroll and timekeeping systems and the use of these systems to economize and streamline ad hoc reporting needs. Plans and executes projects to accommodate acquisitions, major dispositions, system conversions and special projects. Manages the payroll tax function to ensure the timely and accurate remittance and reporting of federal, state, and local taxes in accordance with governmental regulations. Responsible for ensuring payroll expense, deductions, and liabilities are accurately recorded in the General Ledger.
Essential Functions:Applies advanced technology and tools in the analysis, design and development of complicated ad hoc reports to meet the needs of facilities, Support Center departments, management and regulatory agencies.Analyzes current reporting needs, defines specifications, develops and executes project plans for implementation or training of a universal reporting tool.Manages and/or provides support with payroll and timekeeping system conversions, upgrades and enhancements, acquisitions, dispositions, coordinating testing, implementation and field communication, serving as liaison to Information Systems.Manages daily activities of the Payroll Tax team, overseeing preparation of quarterly and/or year-end federal, state and local tax returns, federal tax deposits and all processes that feed to tax information output to ensure timely and accurate tax payments. Manages daily activities of payroll accounting, ensuring all payroll is properly posted in correct period and departments.Develops and leads staff in building knowledge base and in development of technical, organization and analytical skills. Coordinates training and continuing education for payroll tax and accounting staff to build an effective and efficient workforce and improve accuracy of tax and accounting information in the payroll system.Responds to agencies regarding various notices and monitors to ensure issues are resolved. Responds to auditor requests and provides General Ledger reconciliations and education as needed.Ensures that the payroll systems are accurately configured for tax body setups for accurate withholding and remittance. Coordinates with I/S Development to ensure tax update bulletins are applied timely and accurately. Manages new General Ledger setups through testing. Makes corrections as needed. Coordinates with I/S and other areas as needed.Coordinates new management payrolls and new company set-ups. Sets up taxes with outside tax service and prepares applications for tax agencies.Oversees various projects as needed/directed.Provides day-to-day staff supervision, training, development, and retention.
