Job Description:

Mueller's manufacturing commitment ensures one of the world's most precious resources, clean drinking water, reaches millions of people daily. As a Facilities Engineer, you will assist the Maintenance and Reliability Manager in planning work orders, managing the CMMS system, and optimizing plant equipment availability and asset scheduling preventative maintenance based on OEM requirements. The Facilities Engineer will be responsible for purchasing parts needed by the maintenance department. The Facilities Engineer will also be responsible for the management and execution of multiple projects within the organization including capital expenditure projects for the facility grounds and equipment. Finally, this individual will play an integral role in developing and managing the locations annual capital expense budget.

Primary Responsibilities:
  • Enforce company policies (attendance, safety, etc.) procedures, and verify that safety standards are maintained at all times and take action and/or follow-up when deficiencies are noted.
  • Ensure preventive and corrective maintenance programs are within the plant and department budget and comply with the company's policy, procedures, and guidelines.
  • Control and monitor expenditure of parts, supplies, capital assets, and outside contracting services to be within established budget.
  • Work with Production and Maintenance teams to ensure compliance with the preventive maintenance program and monitor department downtime performance. Maintain objective of minimal production lost time.
  • Oversee and enforce compliance with all company and government regulations, SPCC, Safety, Fire Procedures, Etc.
  • Coordinate and execute regular contact points with key staff in order to maintain open lines of communication and to provide updates on project statuses and results.
  • Maintain up to date records for all plant programs: Safety, Quality, Capital, etc.
  • Research and locate parts for repairs.
  • Create PO requisitions and follow through the system to delivery.
  • Maintain the plant floor and property layout drawings using AutoCAD and revise them as required.
  • Spend time across the property conducting inspections and equipment reviews.
  • Work outside normal business hours as required to handle emergencies or ensure that maintenance work does not interfere with regular operations.
  • Coordinate with contractors or vendors to ensure that projects meet company standards.
  • Schedule inspections and maintenance activities in a timely manner.
  • Manage new equipment installation, equipment upgrades, building upgrades and improvements.
  • Comply and keep administrative requirements current: inspections, CAR's, consumer/customer complaints, service failures, safety, cost, and other management reports.

  • Proficiency in using maintenance planning and scheduling software as well as Microsoft Office Suite.
  • Familiarity with maintenance equipment and supplies procurement processes.
  • Continuous search for better ways to satisfy our consumers, both internal and external, with incremental improvements in quality, durability, service, and cost.
  • Ability to lead and/or participate on cross functional teams to achieve a common goal.

Required Education/Experience:
  • 3 to 5 years of experience in a similar role and environment.
  • Bachelor's degree in Mechanical, Electrical, or Civil Engineering or an equivalent combination of education and journey-level work related experience.

Preferred:
  • PMP certification.
  • Experience working with an ERP system; preferably JD Edwards E1.
  • Experience managing capital projects.
  • Demonstrated experience and proficiency in maintenance planning and purchasing in a production environment.

Physical Requirements:
  • Ability to remain in stationary position or standing position for prolonged periods and alternate between
  • Ability to repeat gross or fine manipulation that may include the use of wrists, hands, and/or fingers.
  • Ability to wear Personal Protective Equipment (PPE), including, but not limited to, safety glasses, steel-toed or metatarsal-guarded shoes, and/or ear plugs, while working in an industrial and/or manufacturing environment.
  • Ability to constantly communicate with others to exchange information in person, via phone, or via use of computer.
  • Ability to occasionally lift, carry, push, pull, or move objects up to 25 pounds in weight in all directions.
  • Ability to occasionally reach overhead or at or below shoulder level.
  • Ability to occasionally stoop, crouch, or kneel.
