About the Role:

Join AstraZeneca as a Director of Communications and own the charge in advancing our Respiratory & Immunology (R&I) and Vaccines & Immune Therapies (V&I) business in the US. This pivotal role involves developing and driving comprehensive communication strategies, engaging with senior collaborators, and positioning AstraZeneca as a leader and strategic disruptor.

Your Key Responsibilities:

  • Strategic Leadership: Craft and implement communication strategies for R&I and V&I, including brand landmarks, data presentations, campaigns, and internal communications.

  • Customer Engagement: Collaborate with Executive Directors and leadership teams to drive thought leadership and ensure alignment across US and Global Corporate Affairs.

  • Media and Crisis Management: Anticipate and manage media issues, develop crisis management plans, and coordinate media responses.

  • Cross-functional Collaboration: Work with teams across Commercial, Market Access, Government Affairs, Compliance, and Medical Affairs to ensure cohesive and compliant communications.

  • Patient Advocacy Partnership: Partnering with Advocacy and Policy Leads on patient and non-profit group engagement

Minimum Requirements:

  • Experience: Over 8 years of experience in communications, with a focus on respiratory and immune-driven diseases.

  • Leadership: Consistent track record to influence senior leaders and lead issues management in a matrixed brand environment.

  • Communication Skills: Excellent written and verbal communication skills, with the ability to translate scientific content for diverse audiences.

  • Critical Thinking: Ability to think strategically, navigate complex environments, and offer innovative solutions.

  • Campaign Experience: Experience with leading/building communications campaigns with ambassadors/celebrities/patients/advocates

  • Education: Bachelor's degree in Journalism, Public Relations or Marketing

Preferred Requirements:

  • Industry Knowledge: Graduate with solid understanding of the global pharmaceutical market and innovative life sciences environment, ideally in specialty care products.

  • Healthcare Communications: Substantial experience in healthcare communications, gained in-house at a leading multinational biopharma company or at a global agency.

  • Regulatory and Compliance: Deep understanding of the regulatory environment, compliance framework, and perspectives of key external collaborators such as physicians, payers, and patients.

  • Creativity: Desire to challenge the status quo and provide innovative solutions.

  • Global Experience: Ability to work in a global environment, understanding cultural differences and diversity of thoughts.

  • Public Health Policy Experience/US Policy shaping: Project Work and Exposure
