Essential functions (job duties):

JOB PURPOSE

The Nursing Team Supervisor, Lead Nurse Practitioner position is responsible for leading and managing the team of 5 or more Nurse Practitioners and 2 or more Registered Nurses in providing outpatient clinical care for patients as well as coordinating services and activities within the Wayne State University Adult HIV program. As a member of the interdisciplinary care team the nurse practitioner collaborates with physicians, nurses, medical assistants, social workers, medical case managers, patient advocates and peer navigators. Develops and ensures compliance with program policies and data collection. Leads quality improvement projects within the program and conducts ongoing program evaluation. Supports re-linkage to care initiatives for persons out of care or lost to care. Reports to the WSU Adult HIV Program Director.

ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS

Manages the team of nurse practitioners and registered nurses ensuring collaborative high-quality care is delivered including: training, coaching addressing performance issues, writing evaluations, etc. Schedules nurses with collaborating physicians and fosters productive relationships.

Clinical Care. Serves as the ongoing primary continuity provider/primary care professional for HIV

and related care: conducting exams, diagnosing conditions, prescribing medications,

providing treatments, etc. Documents care in the medical record to meet billing and program

evaluation standards. Engages in ongoing professional development. Maintains a positive and

productive relationship with collaborating physicians.

Program evaluation. Develops and implement program evaluation systems and quality

improvement projects in accordance with funder and program needs. May participate in clinical

research.

Program development. Working with the Principal Investigator (PI) and clinical leads, develops

innovative care models to increase viral suppression among patients. Emphasis on collaborative

care model and team building and maintenance as well as strong networking skills.

Perform other duties as required.

Unique duties:

Qualifications:

Education: Master's degree

Graduation from an accredited school of nursing, with Michigan licensure to practice as a nurse practitioner or physician assistant. BSN preferred. American Academy of HIV Medicine Specialist certification or equivalent experience.

American Association of HIV Medicine Specialist Certification

Maintains AAHIVMS certification by complete required CME and passing the biannual exam.

Experience: Expert (established subject matter expert, 7+ years experience)

Staff supervision experience. Extensive experience in clinical care, HIV care, and programmatic work. Teaching experience helpful.
