General Statement of Duties
The Metropolitan Sewer District posted a number of College Co-Op Job Postings for the Fall Semester beginning August 2024. Please read through all Job Postings and apply for the position(s) you would like to be evaluated for and/or interviewed for as a Co-Op student.

The Priority Deadline for applications is August 21, 2024. Applications will be forwarded to Divisions within the Metropolitan Sewer District for review prior to the close of this posting. If selected for an interview, students will be notified of interviews, via email, as early as, the week of August 19, 2024.
If selected for an interview, you will be contacted via the email provided during the application process. All applicants should have availability for work scheduled 32 - 40 hours per week.

Interns/Co-ops for the City of Cincinnati may be performing duties in any potential field within the City's structure. These fields may include office-level work/assignments, fieldwork, and/or civic services. The nature of the work will be based on areas of interest, degree programs, or organizational needs. Candidates should have the ability to multitask in a fast-paced environment.
Minimum Qualifications (KSAs)
MSD WASTEWATER ENGINEERING DIVISION - PROJECT MANAGEMENT
Mission: Provide planning, design, and project management support to project managers and supervising engineers in the Project Management branch, with emphasis on supporting the Project Managers. Learn aspects of project management by assisting with GIS map development, assist in review of invoices charged to MSD projects, assist in review of construction submittals, develop mailing lists and communications for public communications, and attend training related to civil and environmental engineering. Visit active construction sites to see application of project plans and associated documentation.
Purpose: Gain experiences in and understanding of government public service while providing design and project management support to Project Managers. Provide assistance with a variety of tasks related to planning, design, and construction of sewers, pump stations, detention basins, and other conveyance-related items.
Overview: Be an effective member in a multi-disciplinary team assisting teammates in a professional working environment. Develop communication skills. Learn about project management, specifically planning, design, property acquisition, and construction of various projects. Learn about civil engineering, especially wastewater treatment, sewer design and project management. Assume responsibility for your actions and act in an ethical manner.
Expectations: Learn the basics of AutoCAD Civil 3D while supporting numerous design management efforts, including: assessment sewer planning and concept level design, project legislation, in-house design, and construction cost estimation. Utilize various software platforms to prepare project exhibits. Demonstrate flexibility and adaptability as workflow changes.

Completed two-semester of undergraduate coursework.

In order to qualify for the Intern/Co-op Program, a student must:
Be a U.S. citizen, lawful permanent resident, or a non-citizen with proof of eligibility to work in the United States
Individuals under eighteen will require a work permit
Be enrolled in an accredited institution and have completed 2 semesters of undergraduate coursework
Have a basic understanding of MS Office
Submit a City job application for employment
Pass a background check and drug screen
