Job Title: Surgical Technician

Location: Hilton Head, South Carolina

Essential Duties:

– Prepare operating rooms and surgical instruments for procedures.

– Assist surgeons and surgical teams during operations by passing instruments and supplies.

– Maintain sterile environments and adhere to infection control protocols.

– Perform preoperative and postoperative tasks, including patient preparation and equipment sterilization.

– Ensure the availability and functionality of surgical equipment and supplies.

– Maintain accurate records of surgical procedures and inventory.

Responsibilities:

– Patient Preparation: Assist in preparing patients for surgery, including positioning and draping.

– Surgical Assistance: Provide direct support to surgeons during operations by handing instruments, retracting tissues, and managing surgical equipment.

– Instrument Management: Ensure surgical instruments are properly sterilized, counted, and available during procedures.

– Environment Maintenance: Maintain a sterile field and ensure adherence to aseptic techniques.

– Postoperative Care: Assist in postoperative patient care and the clean–up of the operating room.

– Collaboration: Work closely with surgeons, anesthesiologists, nurses, and other healthcare professionals to ensure coordinated patient care.

– Education and Training: Stay updated on the latest surgical techniques and participate in training and educational programs.

Requirements:

– Certification: Certified Surgical Technologist (CST) certification from the National Board of Surgical Technology and Surgical Assisting (NBSTSA).

– Licensure: Active certification and licensure as required by state regulations.

– Education: Completion of an accredited Surgical Technology program.

– Experience: Prior clinical experience in a surgical setting is preferred.

– Skills: Proficiency in surgical techniques, instrument handling, and sterile processing.
