Job Summary: 

Assist the Corporate Engineer with inspecting, maintaining and repairing all mechanical, electrical and other equipment used by the guest or affecting the quality of their experience while visiting the property.

Essential Duties and Responsibilities 

Assist in overseeing the proper installation, repair, and maintenance of all hotel equipment, including heating, air conditioning, ice machines, fire extinguishers, fire/smoke alarms, lawn sprinklers, and plumbing Assist to develop, coordinate, and monitor routine and preventative maintenance programs to ensure the safety, security and comfort of staff and guests Ensure all house calls are addressed in a timely manner Assist to ensure an aggressive “guest first” attitude among team members Maintain and order inventory Maintain a work order assignment program for completed and pending work orders Prioritize and complete work orders in a timely manner Assists in educating and leading all department personnel on emergency procedures, key control, and safety Communicate across departments to ensure excellent guest experience Assume responsibilities of the Corporate Engineer in absence Assist in hiring, training, developing and reviewing the performance of department personnel Performs other duties as assigned

Qualifications

To perform this job successfully, an individual must be able to perform each essential duty satisfactorily. The requirements listed below are representative of the knowledge, skill, and/or ability required.

Education/Experience

High school diploma or equivalent. Minimum of four years in engineering, maintenance or related professional discipline in a hotel environment. HVAC and pool certification preferred. Knowledge of basic electrical and plumbing maintenance. Experience with general maintenance tools. Troubleshooting ability with skills in painting, HVAC, and carpentry.  Within one year of hire, must obtain pool sanitation, HVAC, and EPA certifications.   Must obtain and maintain any licenses or certificates as required by law. Ability to read and understand blueprints and schematics. Knowledge of machines, computers, tools and other equipment, including HVAC, electrical, and plumbing.

Language Skills

Ability to read and comprehend simple instructions, short correspondence, and memos. Ability to write simple correspondence. Ability to effectively present information in one-on-one and small group situations to customers, clients, and other employees of the organization.

Mathematical Skills

Ability to add, subtract, multiply, and divide in all units of measure, using whole numbers, common fractions, and decimals. Ability to compute rate, ratio, and percentage.

Reasoning Ability

Ability to solve practical problems and deal with a variety of concrete variables in situations where only limited standardization exists.  Ability to interpret a variety of instruction furnished in written, oral, diagram, or schedule form.

Computer Skills

To perform this job successfully, an individual should have knowledge of Word Processing software; Spreadsheet software; and Internet software.

Other

Ability to work a flexible schedule, including evenings, weekends and holidays.
