Job Summary

Summary:
Florida Gulf Coast University is a comprehensive university dedicated to quality education, research, and service. All Faculty are expected to be excellent teachers, responsive to changing professional needs; committed to innovative delivery of instruction resulting in improved student learning; committed to effective use of technology including distance learning; and provide service to the College, University and Community.

Assignments will include teaching, at both undergraduate and/or graduate levels, as applicable. Teaching assignments may be on the main campus or at off-campus sites within our region. Additional duties may be assigned by supervisor.

Typical duties include but not limited to:
• \tPlans and teaches in assigned course(s).
• \tPrepare syllabi, instruction materials; coordinate lectures and tests.
• \tProvide professional mentoring to students.
• \tUsing the Canvas teaching platform to manage courses.
• \tContribute to course and/or curriculum development, if applicable
• \tFunction as an effective, active, and collegial team member.

Other duties
• \tPerforms other job-related duties as assigned.

Minimum qualifications
Masters degree in Psychology or a Masters degree in a related field with 18 graduate credits in Psychology or related discipline.

Preferred qualifications
Experience teaching at the university level.
Experience teaching general psychology, developmental psychology, research methods and statistics, and/or courses related to clinical, I/O, or counseling psychology is preferred.
• \tExperience with course embedded service learning projects.
• \tPhD in psychology or related field.

Knowledge, skills, and abilities

• \tPossess the knowledge of general written standards and procedures utilized, and have the ability to read, interpret, and follow procedural and policy manual related to the job tasks.
• \tDemonstrate the ability to respond to supervision, guidance and direction in a positive, receptive manner and in accordance with stated policies.
• \tProvide quality customer service by creating a welcoming and supportive environment.
• \tPresent a professional image in word, action and attire.
• \tApply effective techniques to create working relationships with others to achieve common goals; successfully communicates and collaborates with others to achieve goals.
• \tDemonstrate skills necessary to look at situations and processes critically to make recommendations for improvement.

Job Description
