We are currently seeking a skilled and motivated Safety Manager to join our team and ensure the highest standards of safety and compliance across our operations. This position will require over 50% travel.

Responsibilities

At Coastal Waste & Recycling, safety is a core value, and the Safety Manager plays a crucial role in ensuring that all employees return home safely each night. As a Safety Manager, you will be responsible for:

  • Accident and Incident Investigation: Investigate accidents, incidents, and near misses to identify root causes and develop corrective actions to prevent recurrence.
  • Training and Coaching: Coach and train district managers, supervisors, and frontline employees on injury and accident prevention. Provide training and support to management and behind-the-wheel instructors to ensure the effectiveness of the new hire program according to company guidelines.
  • Safety Observations: Guide and train supervisors in performing thorough and effective safety observations.
  • Program Support: Equip managers and supervisors with the tools and training needed for successful implementation of company safety programs and initiatives.
  • Task Monitoring: Oversee the completion of corporate safety-related tasks to ensure compliance and effectiveness.
  • Acquisition Integration: Support the integration of new acquisitions with a focus on Environmental, Health, and Safety (EHS) functions.
  • Operational Collaboration: Work closely with operations to ensure adherence to the company’s health and safety programs across all locations in Northern FL, GA, and SC.
Qualifications
  • Experience: Proven experience as a Safety Manager with a strong emphasis on root cause analysis. Experience in the transportation industry is highly preferred.
  • Education: Bachelor’s degree in Occupational Safety and Health, Environmental Science, Engineering, or a related field.
  • Experience Level: Minimum of 3 years of experience in safety management, ideally within the waste management industry.
  • License: Valid driver’s license is required.
