Job Summary:
The Tennis & Pickleball Director at Berkeley Hills Country Club is responsible for overseeing all aspects of the tennis and pickleball programs, ensuring high-quality instruction, program development, and exceptional member service. This role requires a dynamic and enthusiastic individual with strong leadership skills, a deep passion for racquet sports, and the ability to create a vibrant, engaging community for players of all ages and skill levels.

Key Responsibilities:
1. Program Development and Management:
  • Design, implement, and manage comprehensive tennis and pickleball programs for adults and juniors, including clinics, camps, leagues, and tournaments.
  • Develop and promote new initiatives to increase participation and engagement in tennis and pickleball activities.
2. Instruction and Coaching:
  • Provide high-quality instruction and coaching to members, offering private lessons, group clinics, and specialized training programs.
  • Hire, train, and manage any support staff to ensure excellent service delivery.
3. Facility Management:
  • Oversee the maintenance and scheduling of all tennis and pickleball courts, ensuring they are in excellent condition and available for member use.
  • Coordinate with the maintenance team to address facility-related issues promptly.
4. Member Relations:
  • Foster a welcoming and inclusive environment for all members, encouraging participation and engagement in tennis and pickleball activities.
  • Address member inquiries, feedback, and concerns in a timely and professional manner.
5. Events and Tournaments:
  • Plan and execute a variety of social and competitive events, including tournaments, mixers, and exhibitions, to enhance the club’s tennis and pickleball community.
  • Collaborate with the marketing team to promote events and ensure high member participation.
6. Budget and Financial Management:
  • Develop and manage the annual budget for the tennis and pickleball programs ensuring financial goals are met.
  • Monitor revenue and expenses, adjusting as necessary to meet financial objectives.
7. Safety and Compliance:
  • Ensure all programs and activities comply with club policies, industry standards, and safety regulations.
  • Implement and enforce safety protocols to protect members, staff, and facilities.

Qualifications:
  • Bachelor’s degree in Sports Management, Recreation, Physical Education, or a related field preferred.
  • USPTA/PTR certification or equivalent in tennis instruction.
  • USPTA/PPR certification or equivalent in pickleball instruction
  • Minimum of 5 years of experience in tennis and/or pickleball instruction and program management.
  • Proven leadership skills with experience managing a team of professionals.
  • Excellent communication, organizational, and interpersonal skills.
  • Strong ability to develop and maintain positive relationships with members, staff, and the community.
  • Proficiency in using technology and software for scheduling, communication, and program management.

Physical Requirements:
  • Ability to work outdoors and stand for extended periods.
  • Capability to lift and move sports equipment as needed.
  • Willingness to work evenings, weekends, and holidays as required by club activities and events.
