ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS
Leadership Responsibilities
● Collaboratively responsible for the health, growth, and direction of Safe &
Sound and its internal teams and direct service partnerships
● The Associate Director will work directly with the CPO and CEO to support
internal program strategy, collaboratively develop key community
partnerships, identify opportunities for growth, and serve as a thought leader
internally and externally
● Implementing organizational Theory of Change aligned with our Strategic
Agenda, in conjunction with the CPO and CEO
● Develops and implements annual and future program plan(s), program
budget(s), program metrics, assessment(s) and evaluation(s) in
collaboration with the CPO.
● Oversee and manage the department budget of approximately $4-5 million
annually
● Responsible for supporting child & family services direct service programing
and operations at Safe & Sound sites and within the community.
● Responsible for joint leadership of Safe & Sound Program and Operations
teams, including staff culture, performance management, and outcomes
in collaboration with departmental leadership and the CPO.
● Responsible for Safe & Sound clients who include individuals, families,
communities, and partners. Accountable for ensuring departmental
programs are achieving measurable outcomes for children, families, and
community, as well as reaching target populations
● Support the CEO, CPO and Development Department on developing and
maintaining funding sources as well as the successful cultivation and
solicitation of prospective funders
● Knowledge of state laws pertaining to child abuse and domestic violence,
understanding of trauma informed systems, mental health
● Maintain confidentiality and HIPAA compliance
Program Leadership
● In collaboration with the CPO, develop and oversee programming that
reflects client needs, the vision and philosophy of Safe & Sound, and are in
alignment with the organization’s Strategic Plan and Theory of Change.
● Responsible for overseeing all aspects of direct family services, including
Counseling, Care Management, Parenting Workshops and Classes, Children’s
Playroom, Parent Drop-In, Family Events, and TALK Line Parental Stress Line.
Works with the CPO and SPMs (Senior Program Managers) to identify gaps in
services and makes recommendations to address them. Ensures appropriate
services are provided to clients as needed
● In conjunction with the CPO, strengthen, enhance, and develop new
programs as needed in response to needs presented by children, families
and gaps in services available in the community
● Work with other directors and staff to ensure coordination of and
communication between all organizational services and programs,
both internally and externally
● Oversees the management of services provided to all clients, including
intake, screening, assessment, treatment plan development, and service
delivery by staff, contractors, and volunteers
● Responsible for ensuring appropriate communication and inter-program
coordination to meet the best interest of the client
● Manage program contracts (private, government, and city) and local MOUs
(Memorandum of Understanding) including but not limited to EPSDT (Early &
Periodic Screening, Diagnostic, Treatment), DPH (Dept of Public Health), HSA
(Human Service Agency), DEC (Dept of Early Childhood), and MOHCD
(Mayor’s Office of Housing & Community Development)
● In collaboration with the data team, assists in the development of an
evaluation system(s) to assess efficacy of all programming
● Provide training and oversight to ensure staff are able to meet the needs of
families and communities being served
● Oversee supervision of all CFS staff in collaboration with the CPO. Provide
guidance, monitor performance, and discipline as necessary.
● Oversee the hours of operation of client services and scheduling of all staff,
interns, volunteers, events, groups, and those providing services
● Oversee the development and implementation of an outreach plan to reach
children and families in Safe & Sound's target population.
● In conjunction with other program leads, develop and coordinate
trainings for Safe & Sound staff, interns, and volunteers to ensure best
practices
● Support staff in collaborating with public and private agencies on behalf
of individual clients/families including advocacy
● Provide information, referrals and consultation to the community as
appropriate
● Respond to all emails and telephone calls in a timely and appropriate manner.
● Attend and represent the agency at appropriate community meetings and/or
committees, a list of which shall be jointly developed with the CPO.
Administration
● Prepare and manage departmental budgets of approximately $4-5
million dollars, running the annual budgeting process for the
department in collaboration with the Finance Department, CPO, and
SPMs.
● In conjunction with the CPO, recruit and hire departmental staff.
● Oversee maintenance of all departmental records and documents, including
confidentiality of client charts.
● Attend board meetings, leadership, lead departmental, general staff
meetings, and other meetings as requested by the CEO and/or CPO.
● Provide monthly program reports, including developing and managing
programmatic data collection through organizational data systems, on all
programmatic activities for the Board, other directors, community
partners, funders, and others as requested
● Respond to all emails, telephone calls, and other communications in a
timely and appropriate manner
● Collaborate with Senior Program Managers in identifying and accessing
resources and disseminating information and schedule trainings and
presenters as needed
● Manage monthly departmental credit card reconciliation process
● Manage & prepare monthly contractual reports
● Ensure compliance with laws, regulations, contract requirements, and agency
policy and procedure
● Provide on-site coverage to support team members at the Bayview and/or
Waller site
● Collaborate with the CPO and Associate Director of Community Education
Partnerships to develop and implement standardized policies and
procedures for Safe & Sound programs supporting families and communities
● Supervise Senior Program Managers (SPMs), hold weekly supervision
meetings, schedule trainings that promote quality of services, and workforce
development.
● Develop, motivate, and foster collaborative relationships both internally &
externally
● Attend TALK Line training (upon hire/once)


Undertake other duties as assigned.


ESSENTIAL QUALIFICATIONS
● Graduate degree in public health, social work, child development, or a
related field required. LCSW/LMFT preferred. Relevant certifications or
licenses in social work or related areas are a plus
● Minimum five (5) years experience providing direct services in a social services,
community based, or similar non-profit setting
● Minimum three (3) years experience and demonstrated success in program
administration and management including the management of public
contracts
● Demonstrated experience working with diverse and high-risk
populations
● Ability to ensure Leadership Team role is consistently present on-site to provide
guidance, support, and strategic direction to team members while fostering
optimal performance and collaboration
● Basic computer skills required: word processing, Google apps/
Microsoft office. Comfortable with learning new software programs.
Understanding of Salesforce preferred.
● Liaise with various stakeholder, clients, partners, and funders on
relevant data, impact, and performance measurement
● Experience in data collection, program evaluation and utilizing
metrics to inform practice
● Excellent hands-on problem solving skills & attention to detail
● Must have excellent verbal and written communication skills, organizational
and time management skills, and analytical skills to meet program and
contract objectives.
● Experience in public speaking and representing an organization at
community events and forums
● Ability to work effectively with diverse populations and understand the
unique challenges faced by families and children in the San Francisco Bay
Area
● Requires familiarity with and knowledge of current policies and
services available in the community for at-risk families
● Requires knowledge of psychological trauma and its impact on
individuals and communities
PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS
● Familiarity and knowledge of current policies and services available in the
community for at-risk families; psychological trauma and its impact on
individuals and communities; local community agencies and organizations is
strongly preferred.
● A demonstrated commitment to public and community service with an
enthusiasm for Safe & Sound’s mission and a shared commitment to
equity, inclusion, and justice.
● Leading Multi-disciplinary teams, project management experience
● Certification in Trauma informed Care preferred
● Non-profit management experience
● Demonstrated experience with time-management, organization,and
communication skills
● Requires familiarity and knowledge of current policies and services
available in the community
● Knowledge/experience with issues of homelessness and domestic violence;
parenting issues, child development and Bay Area resources for low-income
families.
● Requires knowledge of psychological trauma and its impact on
individuals and communities.

PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS
● Typical Working Conditions:
○ This position works in a variety of settings including standard office,
community setting, phone and video meetings..
● Equipment Used:
o Computer, phone, fax, copier, Office at Hand.
○ Essential Physical Tasks:
■ Occasional travel, usually within Bay Area but sometimes nationally
● Will be required to attend family events coordinated by the
team
● Occasional evening/weekend work
■ Occasional light lifting
■ Extensive keyboarding
■ Ability to lift/push/pull up to 20 pounds unassisted

The base salary for this position is $110,200.00 annually and eligible for agency
sponsored benefits.
