JOB TITLE:

Assistant Director, Business Operations - College of Arts & Sciences

JOB PURPOSE:

Assists the Director of Business Operations in overseeing and performing the business, financial, and personnel functions of the College of Arts & Sciences.

ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:

Assist the Director in managing the financial operations of the college, including revenue reports, budget analysis, and cost approval.
Coordinate with academic departments to review and assist with their budgets and reconciling.
Training and mentoring of departmental staff.
Perform analysis and troubleshooting for financial and budgeting problems. Manage the roll-up to the college budgets.
Manage the Dean’s office financials and disbursements. Generate and analyze reports. Forecast encumbrances and obligations.
Assist the Director in administering human resources activities. Duties include initiating, reviewing and assisting others in using ORC/HCM system for recruiting/hiring, pay, and employment changes.
Assist the Director in hiring, supervising, training, and mentoring Shared Staff Center Business Managers and other support staff. Coordinate college financial data for consistency across all departments.
Oversee all college grant accounting. Includes training, supervising, and managing college grant accountant/s, and assisting PI’s, department staff, and Sponsored Programs with problem resolution.
Participates in the development, implementation, and maintenance of departmental policies, objectives, and procedures.

REMOTE WORK ELIGIBILITY:

This position provides vital support to campus customers and requires the successful candidate be available to work on campus.

MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS:

Bachelor’s degree in Business Administration, Accounting or related field
A minimum of 4 years of direct work-related experience
Excellent written, verbal, and interpersonal communication skills
Valid driver's license with a motor vehicle record (MVR) compliant with the University Vehicle Use Policy.
DESIRED QUALIFICATIONS:

Master’s degree in business or business related field and/or equivalent combination of education and experience
A minimum of 1 year experience with fiscal management and budget planning
A minimum of 1 year experience with personnel management
A minimum of 1 year experience with payroll and hiring
Experience with grant accounting and budgeting
A minimum of 1 year experience working in higher education
