We are hiring a remote National Sales Director to join our team. Ideally, this person would be located East of the Mississippi River with travel expected to be around 50%. Our products are sold directly to growers and through distributor channels. We sell to all controlled environment ag including the food, horticulture and cannabis industries. The current sales team, 4 representatives, works remotely as well. This role will be a mix of direct sales contributions with key accounts within existing networks and managing the sales team . You will orchestrate winning sales strategies for our high-touch consultative sales process, set sales quotas on a regional and national scale, and develop forecasting.

Key Responsibilities
  • Bring knowledge, gravitas, and credibility to our prospects, customers, and sales team
  • Develop plans and strategies for developing business and achieving the company’s sales goals
  • Create a culture of success and ongoing business and goal achievement
  • Manage the sales teams, operations and resources to deliver profitable growth
  • Manage the use of budgets and track and calculate ROI
  • Define optimal sales force structure while hiring and developing staff
  • Become known as an employer of choice and a sales force that top salespeople want to join
  • Define and oversee sales staff compensation and incentive programs that motivate the sales team to achieve their sales targets
  • Conceptualize, create, and implement sales training programs and materials that enable staff to achieve their potential and support company sales objectives
  • Develop and hone the sales pitch(es)
  • Manage customer expectations and contribute to a high level of customer satisfaction
  • Define B2B sales processes, including a technical sales engineering component, that drive desired sales outcomes and identify improvements where and when required
  • Put in place infrastructure and systems to support the success of the sales function
  • Provide detailed and accurate sales forecasting using multiple modeling techniques including Lead Value, Opportunity Stage, Length of Sales Cycle, Time Series Analysis, and Multivariate Regression Analysis
  • Compile information and data related to customer and prospect interactions
  • Monitor customer, market, and competitor activity and provide feedback to the company leadership team and other company functions
  • Work closely with the marketing function
  • Manage key customer relationships and participate in closing strategic opportunities
  • Travel for in-person meetings with customers and partners and to develop key relationships


Skills for Success
  • Preferred Bachelor’s degree in sales, business, agribusiness, or a related field while Masters degree is a plus
  • Ideally 7+ years experience in sales positions within the food, CEA, indoor ag, cannabis, or ornamental industries
  • Expertise in technical B2B sales process that includes a sales engineering component
  • Excellent leadership, project management, multitasking, and decision-making skills
  • Proven experience developing sales teams and processes, including having managed sales teams
  • Strong statistical and data analysis skills
  • Self-starter, able to work remotely or in an office environment
  • Willingness and ability to travel 50% of the time
  • Metrics-driven sales mind with eye for creativity
  • Experience with sales automation and CRM tools
