Summary

This position is located in the Nutrition Services Department of the Phoenix Indian Medical Center in Phoenix, AZ. Activities are directed toward coordination of the nutrition services with other program services to achieve the goal of elevating the physical status of the American Indian/Alaskan Native to an optimum state through adequate nutrition. This position reports to the Health Chief of Nutrition Services.



Duties

  • Develops long-range plans and objectives concerning nutrition and dietetic services that are needed by the ambulatory patients and their families as well as the outlying communities served by PIMC.
  • Prepares nutritional educational plans for supporting nutritional requirements.
  • Asses nutritional habits, food, food purchasing practices and resources for purchasing food availability to client/communities and plans appropriate nutrition therapy for a variety of disease states and for the prevention of disease.
  • Assists with development, implementation and updating policies and procedures for ambulatory nutrition services, in cooperation with other members of the health care team.
  • Reviews, selects, or develops suitable educational and counseling materials on normal and Therapeutic nutrition for use by professional and paraprofessional staff providing services to patients and community members.
