Responsibilities: The Saint Louis Zoo has an immediate need for a Financial Reporting Specialist to assist the Zoo’s existing team of Financial Accountants responsible for processing cash receipts, creating journal entries, analyzing general ledger accounts, and preparing monthly financial statements. This position reports to the Manager of Financial Reporting.

Responsibilities for this position include, but are not limited to: assisting in processing monthly Saint Louis Zoo and Zoo Association cash receipts journals and other month-end journal entries; consolidating month-end financial statements; reconciliation of income statement and balance sheet accounts; budget variance analysis; preparation of analysis and materials for the annual financial statement audit (such as reconciliation of pledge account receivable and inventory accounts); preparation of internal reporting for staff and governance; assisting with maintenance of finance records in compliance with internal policies and local government regulations; assisting the Manager of Financial Reporting and Director of Finance with reviewing and streamlining processes; other duties as assigned.

This individual will also serve as one of the Finance Department’s Business Managers to select Saint Louis Zoo and Saint Louis Zoo Association departments.

Qualifications: The ideal candidate is process and customer service oriented, organized, highly motivated, and has strong analytical and communication skills. Must be a problem-solver, have highly developed soft skills, exude positivity, be a self-starter and have proven ability in effective change management. Ability to manage and prioritize multiple projects to meet deadlines is a must. Bachelor’s degree strongly preferred, ideally in Finance, Accounting, or Information Systems; 2-5 years accounting experience; high proficiency in the Microsoft Office software suite required. Experience in Accounting and Information Systems preferred. All successful candidates for this position will be required to submit to a criminal background check and drug test.
