Perform routine and preventative maintenance and repair of mechanical and electrical systems involving production equipment and facilities. Lead projects that span the spectrum of electrical, hydraulic, mechanical, pneumatics and welding duties. This role is also responsible for documenting maintenance repairs and events. Parts sourcing and parts inventory responsibilities are integral responsibilities. This role also will confer with vendors and maintenance contractors.Essential Duties and Responsibilities

  • Perform lockout/tagout and adhere to all safety requirements and best practices.
  • Performs skilled and semi-skilled maintenance activities depending on area assignment.
  • Ability to troubleshoot/repair electrical, basic ladder logic, and mechanical faults.  
  • Performs the disassembly, repair, assembly and/or replacement of pneumatic / hydraulic components by understanding basic system circuits and components.
  • Performs minor and major electrical repairs (replacing 3 phase motors, switches, fuses etc.).  
  • Fitting and welding, able to cut, fit and weld steel components utilizing safe work practices and knowledge of all equipment and techniques to this skill.  
  • Hydraulics: change hydraulic cylinders and hydraulic pumps
  • Rebuild pumps and know when and how to change; Replace hoses and hose pumps; Water tank pump:  when to change, how to change, rebuild tank pumps
  • Repair maintenance on all relevant equipment including pumps, motors, gear boxes, conveyor systems, band saws, CNC, and other equipment; Replace bearings
  • Troubleshooting and preventative maintenance on boiler, chillers, compressors, baghouses, septic, and water treatment. Run tests on boiler; inspect sewer system, inspect air compressors. Start up and shut down of boiler, treatment of boiler water
  • Basic repair and maintenance of forklifts, attachments, and other mobile equipment
  • General facilities, building, and structural maintenance; painting, plumbing
  • Responsibility and ownership in critical situations. Decision making on repairing vs replacing                      
  • Required to respond to call ins and work call-in requests                                                                                               
  • Mentors less experienced mechanics
  • Adjusts functional parts of devices and control instruments                                                                                          
  • Conserve resources by efficient use of equipment and supplies needed to achieve results
  • Perform routine repair, maintenance, and preventive maintenance of HVAC systems.
  • Complete proper permitting and procedures for tasks being performed                                                        
  • Perform specialized skills, but not limited to machining/machinist skills and/or welder/fabricator skill
  • Maintain good housekeeping; Document management           
  • Maintain MRO parts inventory and perform cycle counts; Order and receive parts; Entry and completion of work orders
  • Executes AC&R principles.               Innovation of Maintenance procedures, process, and equipment.
  • Ability to manually lift, push or pull at least 50 pounds safely and with proper body mechanics, sometimes while in awkward positions.  
  • Ability to work weekends, holidays, and/or overtime.  
  • Perform other duties as assigned. 
    • Associate degree or equivalent from two-year college or technical school (preferred) or one-year certificate from college or technical school or equivalent experience
    • 5+ related experience in a related maintenance trade or occupation that involved electrical, mechanical, hydraulic machinery and equipment
    • Ability to obtain internal certification for forklift and aerial lift equipment
    • English proficiency and ability to read and interpret documents.
    • Ability to read and interpret electrical / mechanical drawings.
    • Exceptional troubleshooting skills  
    • Time management and organizational skills
    • Attention to detail and problem-solving skills.
    • Manufacturing or process related experience is preferred.
    • Basic proficiency with computers (Microsoft Office, SAP experience preferred).The job requires working frequently around and with heavy machinery with moving mechanical parts and mobile equipment.The environment is not climate controlled and employees must be able to work in environments that may be extremely hot and humid or cold depending upon the operation and the season.Walking surfaces can be wet, dusty, and uneven.Areas of the building where work must be done have high noise levels.Some working areas contain the presence of airborne particles which can irritate the skin or eyes.Employees are required to wear personal protective equipment which includes steel toed shoes, ear protection, eye protection, high visibility vest/clothing, cut resistant gloves, and in certain areas may be required to wear cut resistant sleeves, protective apron, and face shield.
