USC’s Keck School of Medicine, Department of Medicine, is seeking a  Research Associate to participate in drug toxicity research within the Division of Gastrointestinal and Liver Diseases. The incumbent will play a crucial role in the newly funded NIH grant project under the supervision of the principal investigator (PI).  

We are looking for an ideal candidate who is a dedicated, innovative, and self-driven researcher with a strong interest in the field of molecular cell biology, stress response, inflammation, and drug hepatotoxicity. The candidate should possess extensive experience in conducting both in vitro and in vivo experiments. This experience should encompass various areas, including general molecular biology, biochemistry, in vivo research techniques, and proficiency in protein assays (including Western Blotting, Immunoprecipitation, and gel analysis), as well as expertise in nucleic acids (such as cloning, PCR, RT-QPCR, RNA synthesis, transfection, and extraction). Additionally, the candidate should be adept at microscopic analysis, covering immune fluorescent staining, Immuno-histochemistry (IHC), light microscopy, and image analysis and processing.

Key responsibilities for this role include:

• Conducting animal experiments and maintaining established cell lines.
• Utilizing cutting-edge technologies like CRISPR/Cas9, siRNA, and other innovative methods to manipulate gene and protein expression in cell and animal models.
• Investigating the effects of alcohol, drugs, and other agents on genetically modified cell and animal models.
• Preparing cells, cellular organelles, and tissues for confocal and electron microscopy services.

Rate Information:

This position will be Exempt and On-Site.

The salary range for this position is $66,902.30to $75,000.00.
