Job Overview

The Production Supervisor - Heavy Fabrication - 3rd Shift  at our new Komatsu Manufacturing Facility will have responsibility over the Heavy Fabrication (metal fabricators) and Welding (sub-arc, hex-chrome, fit up/tack, 3/32 flux core) Manufacturing Operation activities on 3rd Shift, within our Union Manufacturing Setting.

This Role will supervise and coordinate the activities of production and operating workers (direct / in-direct labor), such as inspectors, precision workers, machine setters and operators, assemblers, and/or fabricators.   Carrying out supervisory responsibilities in accordance with the organization's policies and applicable laws.  Will include interviewing, hiring and training employees; planning, assigning and directing work; appraising performance, rewarding and disciplining employees, addressing complaints and resolving problems.  The Production Supervisor - Heavy Fabrication Role must work safely and be an advocate for all safety activities, driving a culture of Zero Harm.  

Key Job Responsibilities
  • Assist manager with overseeing workers and labor.    Plan and establish work schedules, assignments and production sequences to meet production goals.
  • Provide direction, development and leadership to shop personnel.
  • Enforce safety, process and regulations.   Maintain safe working conditions and practices in the unit.   Comply with safety and corporate guidelines on business ethics.
  • Reads and analyzes charts, work orders, production schedules and other records and reports to determine production requirements and evaluate current production estimates and outputs.
  • Confer with other supervisors to coordinate operations and activities within or between departments.
  • May inspect materials, products or equipment to detect defects or malfunctions.
  • Demonstrates equipment operations, work and safety procedures to new employees, or assign employees to experienced workers for training.
  • May observe work and monitor gauges, dials and other indicators to ensure operators conform to production or processing standards.
  • Work with management or subordinates to resolve worker problems, complaints, or grievances.
  • Interprets specifications, blueprints, job orders and company policies and procedures for workers.
  • Coordinate employee work schedule and work order assignments.
  • Monitors performance for production and quality standards in compliance with work orders.
  • Balance time sheets and review labor metrics for daily performance.
  • Prepare and maintain departmental reports, such as service reports, injury reports, etc.
  • Maintains equipment and supplies, arranges replacements or equipment repair as needed.
  • Provide leadership and training to accomplish company goals and objectives.
  • Promotes shop floor organization and cleanliness among personnel.
Qualifications/Requirements
  • High School Diploma required, (technical degree or above is preferred); or six months to one year related experience and/or training; (or equivalent).
  • Previous Manufacturing Supervision experience in Heavy Fabrication and/or Welding (sub-arc, hex-chrome, fit up / tack, 3/32 flux core) is a strong preference.
  • Prior Union Supervision or Union experience would be a plus.
  • Experience with Root Cause Investigations is beneficial.
  • Ability to read and interpret engineering drawings.
  • Prior experience with Lifting / Rigging is preferred.
  • Proficient computer skills, ERP understanding is a large plus.
  • Ability and want to work on 3rd Shift.

 

Additional Information

Potential Salary Range:   
Minimum: $67,000 - Maximum: $95,000  (any potential salary amounts will vary based on skills, experience, education, etc.)

*  Straight time overtime pay after 45 hours per week.

*  Annual Bonus of up to 5% of Salary (dependent on performance of individual and company)
