Mission:

Our mission is Environmental Justice. We believe that the health, environmental and economic benefits of renewable energy should be accessible to everyone, regardless of income. We have installed new solar energy systems on a variety of rooftops, partnered with nonprofit affordable housing developers, and turned the energy benefits into financial assistance to low-income families and individuals. 

Duties and Responsibilities

An ideal candidate will have a strong commitment to environmental justice, experience in a number of these duties and responsibilities, and enthusiasm to learn, work, and advocate in innovative policy initiatives.

Subscriber Management

·     Communication with electric utility, affordable housing partners, and government agencies to

ensure solar production benefits are allocated to low-income residents to meet their needs and help affordable housing owners achieve maximum community impact.

Corporate Reporting and Board of Directors

·    Assist with corporate reporting to investors, lenders, and grantors, including for federal 501(c)(3) charitable status, and corporate compliance.

·    Plan and coordinate meetings of the Board of Directors. Prepare materials for board meetings.

·    Track and manage charitable donations.

Accounting, Tax, and Insurance

· Development and management of annual budget and updates for projects under New Partners management.

· Coordination with accountants and auditors and review of financial statements, payroll, and tax filings. Management of bank accounts.

· Maintenance of insurance and coordination with broker regarding renewal of policies. Working with broker for green credits as project revenue.

Community Events and Media Outreach:

· Planning Tours and Special Events. Coordinating visits and presenting to schools, job trainees, and delegations. Special events include ribbon cuttings and fundraising events.

· Management of Website. Assisting with envisioning a better website, coordinating with the web developer and other team members, and maintaining the contents of the website.

Future Growth Areas

Development

· Learning and assisting with development and fund-raising strategies. Maintain relationship with Spur Local (formerly Catalogue for Philanthropy) and major funding organizations. Collaborate on grant applications. Strengthen relationships with individual donors and foundations.

Education and Media Advocacy

· Creating media thought pieces on creating change through production of solar energy with high community impact. Working on media and website to advance the mission and educate multiple constituencies including financial partners, government agencies, low-income community

members, affordable housing partners and environmental organizations.

· Participating in seminars and groups explaining how we work for environmental justice and how governmental and financial challenges are met in areas of innovative social impact. In prior years, New Partners has taught students from five universities and law schools, as well as groups from World Bank, US Green Building Council, affordable housing developers, and business leaders.

Program and Project Management

· Working with building owners and developers to facilitate their creation of new solar installations and management as community-benefitting solar. Learning about financial projections as part of new project development and management.

Bachelor’s degree required. A relevant higher education degree is a plus. 

Experience with non-profit organizations or environmental justice work is preferred.
