The primary focus of this position is on the provision of comprehensive services to Veterans with conditions related to Polytrauma and Traumatic Brain Injury (TBI). The Incumbent provides social work services to Veterans who have suffered one or more Traumatic Brain Injuries which may or may not be coupled with other physical or mental health conditions in both the inpatient and outpatient settings.

Major duties include, but are not limited to:
Under supervision of the Polytrauma/TBI Program Director, the Incumbent coordinates day-to-day operation of the Polytrauma/TBI Stockton Clinic Program within the facility.
Provides a comprehensive range of social work services for all patients and families identified, regardless of the complexity of the problems.
Effectively communicates with and utilizes other disciplines (e.g., nursing, medicine) to facilitate treatment planning and implementation.
Develops, reviews, and provides educational information to Veterans and their families regarding TBI and PTSD.
Maintains and remains up-to-date on clinical, professional and accreditation standards and acts as a resource to other staff regarding these standards of care.
Collects and maintains data and prepares required reports for accreditation or other program monitoring and quality assurance operations.
Conducts special projects or sturdies to analyze, evaluate, and provide recommendations on administrative programs or issues.
Supports the mission of the VA by meeting the needs of Veterans demonstrated by consistently communicating and treating customers (Veterans, their representatives, visitors, volunteers and all VA staff) in a courteous, tactful and respectful manner.



Work Schedule
: Monday through Friday, 8:00 a.m. to 4:30 p.m.; Subject to change to meet the needs of the Agency

Pay:
Competitive salary and regular salary increases

When setting pay, a higher step rate of the appropriate grade may be determined after consideration of existing pay, higher or unique qualifications, or special needs of the VA (Above Minimum Rate of the Grade).


Paid Time Off:
37-50 days of annual paid time offer per year (13-26 days of annual leave, 13 days of sick leave, 11 paid Federal holidays per year)


Parental Leave:
After 12 months of employment, up to 12 weeks of paid parental leave in connection with the birth, adoption, or foster care placement of a child.


Child Care Subsidy:
After 60 days of employment, full time employees with a total family income below $144,000 may be eligible for a childcare subsidy up to 25% of total eligible childcare costs for eligible children up to the monthly maximum of $416.66
.


Retirement:
Traditional federal pension (5 years vesting) and federal 401K with up to 5% in contributions by VA


Insurance:
Federal health/vision/dental/term life/long-term care (many federal insurance programs can be carried into retirement)
