This position is responsible for assisting the Director and Assistant Director of Safety & Security at The Hershey Lodge to provide a safe and secure environment for Lodge employees and guests. Job Duties (Duties marked with an asterisk are essential functions of this job):

  • Conduct employee orientation and ensure officers are properly trained by following the established training program for security staff.*

  • Oversee security operations and personnel by ensuring all assigned duties are effectively and professionally performed. Coach, mentor, and develop Safety & Security direct reports (both full-time and part-time) and supervise security officers.*

  • Review daily log entries and all initial incident, crime, and accident reports. Ensure that follow-up investigations are conducted as needed. Ensure all reports are accurate and legible. Take corrective action as needed.

  • Assist with the maintenance of inventory and emergency checklists (fire extinguishers, first aid kits, AED checks, etc.)

  • Coordinate with other departments as needed on any activities that will take place after regular business hours.

  • Review weekly work schedules including authorizations of all vacations and personal requests for leave on a consistent basis.

  • Provide the Director and Assistant Director with accurate information concerning all officer-related issues including training needs, suggested training topics, and classes.*

  • Respond to any needs relating to safety and security of our guests, visitors, or employees*

  • Report hazards and make observations on issues which affect the safety and security of our guests, employees, and visitors.

  • Maintain records and write detailed reports in accordance with Safety and Security Department Standard Operating Procedures.

  • Adhere to and enforce company policies and procedures. Follow the guidelines established and outlined in the Department's Standard Operating Procedures including the service of alcohol, securing restricted areas, and key control.*

  • Provide assistance as directed by the Night Manager, Manager on Duty, and Night Auditor.

  • Perform other duties as assigned.

Qualifications:

  • Must be 18 years of age or older.

  • Minimum of 2 years of Safety and Security or related experience. Hospitality/Tourism experience preferred.

  • Must have a valid Drivers' License.

  • Completion of high school or GED.

  • Must complete First Aid/AED/CPR, Responsible Alcohol Management Program (RAMP), and Certified Lodging Security Officer (CLSO) trainings.

  • In accordance with Pennsylvania's Child Protective Services Law, candidates must be able to obtain and maintain a report of criminal history from the Pennsylvania State Police (PSP), Child Abuse History Clearance from the Department of Human Services (Child Abuse), and Fingerprint-based federal criminal history submitted through the Pennsylvania State Police or its authorized agent (FBI), as a condition of continued employment.

Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities:

  • Must be knowledgeable of HE&R's Emergency Management Programs.

  • Skilled in the use of Microsoft Office applications, including Excel and Word.

  • Excellent communication skills (both verbal and written), problem solving, and decision making skills.

  • Experience with electronic security and surveillance systems to include CCTV.

  • Must be able to effectively interact with a diverse population as well as the general public.
