Fish Biologist

JOB SUMMARY: This position is located in Death Valley National Park, in the Resources Division. Open to the first 101 applicants or until 09/25/2024 whichever comes first. MAJOR DUTIES: This position is stationed in Pahrump, Nye County, Nevada approximately 60 miles west of Las Vegas, Nevada. Death Valley National Park is located 65 miles west of Pahrump and consists of 3.4 million acres with 95% percent designated as wilderness. Pahrump is located in the Mojave Desert at an elevation of 2,700 ft. Temperatures typically range from approximately 85-105 degrees in the summer to 40-60 degrees in the winter. Complete shopping, educational, medical and professional services are available in Pahrump and Las Vegas. Population is approximately 35,000 with affordable housing. Recreational opportunities include hiking, mountain biking, golfing, and off-roading. Boating and fishing is available at nearby Lake Mead and the Colorado River. Visit PAHRUMP true NEVADA for additional information MAJOR DUTIES: Leads long term ecosystem monitoring program for an endangered fish species. Oversees data entry, data integrity through 100% QAQC protocols, and data synthesis for a Program Manager. Reviews and contributes to interagency conservation and recovery mitigations and technical reports. Develop research proposals to address endangered fish population dynamics and aquatic ecosystem processes.
