Job Description​

Saint Luke's Hospital has an exciting opportunity for a Manger in our Sterile Processing Department. This position is responsible for planning, organizing and directing the daily activities of the Sterile Processing Department which services Main OR, Neuro OR, CVOR, L&D and 26 hospital-based clinics. 

5+ years of experience required and Associate's Degree preferred.

  • Ensures department operations meet AAMI standards, manufacturers IFUs, benchmarks for key performance indicators, and regulatory standards pertaining to sterile processing. 

  • Functions as an SPD expert utilizing best practices for all sterile processing including high level disinfection throughout the hospital and hospital-based clinics.  

  • Develop, review and revise policies pertaining to sterile processing including high level disinfection for all departments of the hospital and hospital based clinics.  

  • Demonstrates and remains current with specialized knowledge of instrument care and sterilization standards.

  • Ensures strict adherence of bacteriologic testing and storage of records according to federal, state, and local agencies.

  • Identifies opportunities and applies principles of performance improvement to achieve meaningful improvement within the department and with other service areas, as appropriate.

  • Identifies and coordinates unit-specific education, reference resources and training to meet the to ensure ongoing competency of staff. 

  • Demonstrates fiscal responsibility by taking ownership and ongoing evaluation of the SPD equipment, supplies, throughput of items/instrumentation, key performance indicators, staffing, time management, decreasing waste and promoting cost effectiveness.

  • Communicate effectively with other care providers (physicians, nurses, unit staff, business office, and medical records) to provide for continuity of patient care and to meet the needs of the customers we serve.
