Naval Air Station Patuxent River, United States Commander, Navy Installations Part time

Receives, stores, identifies, and issues the full range of available items used by shop customers. Items include tools used for vehicle maintenance and/or repair.

Receives, stores, and inventories items. Checks incoming shipments of stock by comparing item names and identification numbers with receiving reports, and by opening, counting, and visually checking contents of containers. Ensures that hazardous materials are handled according to regulations. Reports overages, shortages, or damaged items. Stores items in established locations, considering such factors as the use, size, shape, weight, and similar nomenclature of items. Conducts inventories by counting items on hand, searching bins for missing items, and taking recounts as necessary.

Processes returned items. Follows up to ensure return of nonexpendable items, and checks upon return for damage or maintenance needs. May perform minor maintenance such as cleaning stock and parts and ensuring that the building and grounds are properly cared for. Reports obviously damaged or inoperative tools and used or excess stock or parts to the supervisor.

Operates a cash register.

Performs other duties as assigned.
