Reporting to the SVP, People Team of Optum Health, this role is responsible for driving the Optum Health business strategy of practice and employer of choice. This role will develop and drive the strategy and planning of culture and experience, building processes and programs for the entire Optum Health people team. Working closely with senior leaders, and People Business Partners, this role will translate business objectives into strategic and actionable plans. This role will lead efforts around engagement for all (critical) roles across Optum Health, specifically clinical roles. This will require coordination, collaboration, and partnership across various teams across UHG.

Primary Responsibilities:

  • Leads culture work across Optum Health, working to integrate cultures of all entities that have integrated into Optum Health
  • Collaborate and design, in partnership with the Chief Medical Officer, to create an exceptional clinician experience, as well as collaboration across all clinician related teams to create a connected and aligned provider development strategy; including UHG Talent Office, Office of Provider Advancement (OPA), UHG Medical Affairs
  • Designs, builds, and outlines programs and processes related to employee experience, retention, and development, including clinical roles
  • Assesses leadership and key role pipeline health and works in collaboration with People Team leadership teams to develop solutions to close gaps
  • Partners with talent business partners and people business partners across the organization to monitor and proactively build an internal executive talent pipeline
  • Designs and monitors onboarding / assimilation strategies and programs to ensure effective acclimation to Optum Health
  • Partners with Talent Development and/or people business partners (to design, develop, and implement business-specific, targeted leadership development programs and helps manage the nomination/selection process for programs and helps to monitor the effectiveness of programs
  • Incorporates market group diversity strategies and goals into segment people team plans
  • Manages analytics ensuring accurate, meaningful data and dashboards related to people insights, evaluate programs, processes, and other people related activity
  • Leverages workforce planning analytics to create a clear view of talent demand (growth, business objectives) and supply issues (risk of turnover, retirement, and workforce mobility) and incorporate into talent strategy
  • Partner with senior people team leaders and business leaders on aspects of a multi-year business transformation and workforce planning
  • Support development of the strategic plan, financial plans, and annual business plans in conjunction with executives, Finance, and other functional teams, providing insight and recommendations and ensuring alignment

Required Qualifications:

  • 10+ years of experience in a large matrixed organization with deep knowledge of business partnering, talent acquisition, talent management, talent development and organization development to build integrated strategies
  • Experience thinking strategically and then develop and implement purposeful plans to achieve business goals
  • Organizational and project management experience
  • Proficient in Word, Excel, PowerPoint

Preferred Qualifications:

  • People team experience in supporting healthcare delivery teams
  • Experience understanding talent data, draw conclusions and translate that into a compelling story for business leaders
  • Experience with Oracle Talent Suite and Domo
  • Proven clear, concise and transparent communicator
  • Proven excellent client relationship, networking, and partnering experience at all level of an organization; collaborative style
  • Proven executive presence and the confidence to represent the company as a key internal leader and external ambassador
  • Proven track record of influencing without authority
  • Proven business focused with strong organizational savvy
  • Proven proactive and resourceful; self-motivated

California, Colorado, Connecticut, Hawaii, Nevada, New Jersey, New York, Rhode Island, or Washington Residents Only: The salary range for this role is $147,300 to $282,800 annually. Pay is based on several factors including but not limited to local labor markets, education, work experience, certifications, etc. UnitedHealth Group complies with all minimum wage laws as applicable.
