Position Overview

As a Pipe/Drainage Superintendent for Kiewit, you will be exposed to a variety of both field and office activities that will better develop your understanding of construction operations, supervision, and leadership. This person will also serve as a project lead within their specialty area and provide expert knowledge, past experience, mentorship, and other functions to various project personnel and teams.

District Overview

Kiewit's South-Central District is one of Kiewit's leading infrastructure districts specializing in heavy civil, transportation, and water resource markets. Projects you could be working on could include mass grading, drainage, paving, utility and more. Although most of our work is regionally based in the south-central region of the United States, we also pursue various projects stretching across the United States. We are looking for individuals who are passionate about infrastructure and committed to the construction industry as opposed to design.

Responsibilities
  • Provide supervisory direction and leadership for a team of 4 - 5 Superintendents, managing the performance of productivity, safety, quality, and schedule adherence.
  • Liaison between field engineering, craft personnel, and project leadership to ensure compliance of construction drawings and specifications.
  • Initiate, lead, and attend supplementary and regular meetings.
  • Coordinate and interface effectively with other superintendents and subcontractors, as well as Kiewit staff personnel and leadership to ensure smooth workflow and schedule adherence.
  • Report project and personnel issues as timely as possible.
  • Assist in schedule planning, determining craft labor levels, material quantities, and equipment requirements.
  • Assist in development and implementation of plans relating to project completion and turnover.
  • Ensure project rules, procedures, and programs are followed consistently, including those involving safety, attendance, and workplace behavior standards as reflected in the Company’s non-harassment and nondiscrimination policies.
Qualifications
  • 10 years of construction experience with at least 6 years being in a superintendent/leadership role.
  • Experience working on heavy civil / infrastructure construction projects.
  • Experience managing project teams while working for a general contractor.
  • Ability to travel and/or relocate as needed.
  • Demonstrated ability to efficiently supervise and evaluate craft performance.
  • Highly motivated, with a demonstrated passion for excellence and taking initiative.
  • Demonstrated commitment to ethics and integrity.
  • Passion for safety, with the ability to help us ensure that nobody gets hurt.
  • Strong interpersonal, written, and verbal communication skills.
  • Ability to work successfully both independently and as a team to meet deadlines, goals, and objectives.
  • Strong organization, time management, and attention to detail.
