Duties

This position involves a multi-grade career ladder. The major duties listed below represent the full performance level of GS-12. At the GS-11 grade level, you will perform assignments of a more limited scope and with less independence. You will progressively acquire the background necessary to perform at the full performance level of GS-12. Promotion is at the discretion of the supervisor and is contingent upon satisfactory performance, availability of higher-level work, and availability of funds.

This position will be responsible for production and management of visual communication support of the public affairs and communication campaigns and photography, digital visual communication via the Internet (website), social media, Intranet, and digital signage, printed materials and signage and graphic design. Duties will include, but may not be limited to the following:

  • Designs and displays creative visual products for publications, exhibits, and presentations utilizing print and digital media platforms, visual materials, and software applications to communicate information via print or multi-media.
  • Designs visual products such as photographs, illustrations, diagrams, graphs, slides, charts used in books, magazines, pamphlets, exhibits, live or video-recorded speeches and lectures.
  • Provides clients, vendors, contractors, managers, and other employees with technical assistance on design issues, on matters as the principles of visual design, on methods to present subject matter in visual form that conveys the intended message or desired effect on the audience.
  • Coordinates logistics, controls expenses, develops contract specifications, and arranges procurement through competitive contract and acquisition channels.
  • Uses a wide range of digital and traditional photographic equipment to provide high-quality photo support to public affairs and other medical center services.
  • Plans and organizes the work of writers, editors, actors, narrators, musicians, set designers, and audio and lighting technicians.
  • Participates in the planning and evaluation of the operational feasibility of network control systems technology. Consults with technology and equipment manufacturers to develop broadcast feed delivery systems designed to meet the agency's public affairs requirements, digital signage, and livestream platforms necessary to conduct digital communication events (e.g., Virtual Town Halls).
  • Writes, edits, and proofreads technical materials, such as reports of research findings; scientific or technical articles, new releases, and periodicals; regulations in technical areas; technical manuals, specification, brochures, and pamphlets; speeches or scripts on scientific/technical subjects.
  • Performs other duties as necessary.
Work Schedule: Monday-Friday, 8:00am - 4:30pm
