Position Overview

 

The Project Manager is a self-directed team leader that manages all types of projects.  They will lead planning and/or implementation of assigned enterprise IT projects through the full life cycle from project definition and approval through closing and all project deliverables in parallel. The Project Manager will facilitate the definition of project missions, goals, tasks, and resource requirements; resolve or assist in the resolution of conflicts within and between projects or functional areas; develop methods to monitor project or area progress; and provide corrective supervision if necessary. She/he will advocate on behalf of customers and represent customer needs as appropriate to all levels of the project teams, while concurrently maintaining cost, schedule and requirement baselines and adhering to change control processes. The candidate will work cross-functionally to solve problems and implement changes. The ideal candidate will present oral and written reports defining plans, problems, and resolutions to appropriate levels of project team members, and stakeholders.

 

The Project Manager will be a detailed oriented, pragmatic, analytical, professional with excellent communication skills. The ideal candidate is a self-starter who can drive, influence and collaborate with a multitude of stakeholders, sponsors and technical teams to meet project goals. He/she is a well-rounded, can run multiple methodologies, and has proven experience in managing all types of projects including enterprise software development projects as well as internal technical projects.

 

Key Responsibilities (Essential Duties and Functions)

Leadership Functions:

  • Assist Product Owner with user story creation and backlog management​ ("Service to the Product Owner")
  • Support Product Owner & BA to arrange product backlog to maximize value
  • Capacity planning and capacity tracking for the scrum team​
  • Validate estimates, execution plans, architectural designs, etc. 
  • Responsible for organizing and facilitating scrum ceremonies (kick offs, sprint planning, daily stand ups, showcases and retrospectives)​
  • Responsible for detailed release planning​ - includes ensuring success of releases by identifying steps needed for release, responsibilities of various teams included in release, communications, testing plan​, roll back planning, etc.
  • Responsible to identify impediments and remove distractions, including developing proposed resolutions, by working with appropriate teams
  • Track and communicate team velocity, burndown, and sprint/release progress​
  • ​Assist with prioritization and resolution of defects / bugs​
  • Assist Product Owner and Lead Developer in executing showcases

Change Management, Communications & Training functions:​

Qualifications

Education/Experience

  • Minimum of 5 years of IT program/project management experience.
  • Bachelor’s Degree in Management Information Systems, Computer Science or equivalent technical Degree
  • Experience working in complex, distributed business preferred
  • Project Management Professional (PMP) preferred
  • CSM – Certified Scrum Master preferred
  • Six Sigma, Lean or other TQM certification a plus
  • PC skills and hands-on experience building tools and presentations with Microsoft Word, Excel, PowerPoint, Project, and Access.

Work Requirements

  • Must be 18 years in age or older.
